Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen on Nintendo Switch 2 trades some visual detail and loading speed for portability. Its producer says the game targets 30 fps in both handheld and TV modes; optional frame generation can make motion look closer to 60 fps, but that is not the same as rendering 60 frames per second. On base PS5, testing after Title Update 3.2 reports that Performance mode reaches 60 fps and stays there more often than not. The available evidence supports a qualitative comparison, not a precise resolution or matched-scene verdict.
What is being compared?
The relevant Switch 2 release is Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, released on October 9, 2026. Capcom describes it as a package combining the main game and expansion; it is also available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Capcom’s release announcement gives the platform and release details. This is therefore a comparison of the current expanded release, not just the original 2024 game build.

There is an important comparison caveat: Nintendo Life’s Switch 2 review discusses visual differences against PS5 Pro, while Push Square’s post-update performance report separately tests base PS5 and PS5 Pro. Those are not interchangeable comparisons. No collected source provides a controlled, matched-scene Switch 2 versus base PS5 measurement set.

RPG Site’s pre-release hands-on described lower-resolution upscaling and cuts to textures, models, level of detail, and draw distance on Switch 2. Nintendo Life’s retail-version review likewise reports a visible downgrade against PS5 Pro. These are attributed reviewer observations, not measurements made under a shared test protocol. RPG Site’s hands-on was published before launch and said a full platform comparison was still to come; Nintendo Life’s review covers the retail version.

Resolution and upscaling
The available reporting does not establish an exact Switch 2 internal or output resolution, nor a directly comparable base PS5 resolution. It is fair to say that a reviewer observed upscaling from a lower resolution on Switch 2, but not to assign a pixel count or claim resolution parity with PS5.
Docked and handheld play
The Switch 2 version is playable both on a television and as a handheld game. Nintendo Life reports that occasional choppy moments were more apparent docked in its review. That is one reviewer’s experience, not a claim that every scene or every handheld session will behave the same way.

Does Switch 2 run at 60 fps?
Not as a native 60 fps target, according to producer Naoto Oyama. In an interview reported by Nintendo Life, Oyama said: “In the Switch 2 version of Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, the base frame rate is targeted at 30 FPS in both handheld and TV modes.” He explained that optional frame generation interpolates frames to create visuals equivalent to 60 fps, and noted that slight ghosting can occur in some situations. Read Nintendo Life’s report of Oyama’s interview.
Frame generation can make motion appear smoother, but generated frames do not change the producer-stated 30 fps base target into native 60 fps rendering. Nintendo Life’s reviewer found the frame-generation benefit perceptible, but preferred the variable-frame-rate option overall. The Switch 2 review describes a locked 30 fps option, a variable-frame-rate option, and an FSR 3 frame-generation toggle; it also reports occasional choppiness, particularly docked.

How does that compare with PS5 performance?
The PS5 comparison has changed with the game’s updates. After Title Update 3.2, Push Square’s testing reports that base PS5 Performance mode reaches 60 fps and stays there more often than not, including in crowded Vernworth. That is the outlet’s result under its test conditions, not a guarantee of an unbroken 60 fps in every scene. Push Square’s report covers the post-update PS5 testing.
Push Square reports separate PS5 Pro results: performance above 100 fps with ray tracing off, and above 60 fps with ray tracing on. Those Pro observations should not be used as the base PS5 result or as a direct numerical comparison with Switch 2.

Loading, portability, and what to expect
Nintendo Life reports longer loading on Switch 2 than on PS5 Pro, including in Pawn rifts and during cutscene transitions. RPG Site also noted long loading in its pre-release hands-on. These observations indicate a trade-off reviewers encountered, but they do not establish a measured loading-time difference against base PS5.

The practical distinction is straightforward: Switch 2 lets you take the game with you, with visual concessions and a 30 fps base target; PS5 is the choice between these two if your priority is the stronger reported performance baseline on a television. On Switch 2, frame generation is an optional way to make motion look smoother, not a substitute for a native 60 fps mode.

Switch 2 download and storage details
Regional listings give different storage figures, so check the store for your region before installing. Nintendo UK lists a 49.6 GB download size on its Switch 2 game page. Capcom’s Japanese store identifies the Switch 2 package as a key card and says first play requires an internet connection and at least 58 GB of free space, with additional space potentially needed for updates; see the Capcom Japan store listing. Those are market-specific listing details, not universal figures.
