No. The Japanese physical package is a key card, not a self-contained game card. Capcom’s e-Capcom listing says first play requires an internet connection and at least 58 GB of free storage to download the main software; updates may require additional space. Check the packaging and local retailer listing for the edition sold in your region, since the stated format and requirements come from the Japanese listing. Capcom’s e-Capcom store listing also describes a Japan-market early-purchase code for a Norgan costume set, subject to bonus stock, with a stated expiry of October 9, 2027. Availability and eligibility outside Japan are not established.

Should newcomers buy it?
If you have not bought Dragon’s Dogma 2 and want to play on Switch 2, the bundle is the straightforward choice: it includes the original game and the expansion content together. Decide between physical and download based on how you prefer to manage games; the Japanese physical key card still needs an internet connection and substantial free storage for the first download.

Should existing owners buy it again on Switch 2?
For an existing owner, the decision is less automatic. Compare the actual local Switch 2 bundle price with the expansion’s local price for the platform where you already own the base game. Then consider whether playing portably on Switch 2 is worth paying for the game again. The Japanese list prices alone cannot answer that for another region, and no cross-buy, upgrade path, or cross-save arrangement is established by the cited announcements.
Capcom says the existing-platform game received its TU3.2 update ahead of the expansion, adding frame-rate improvements, more save slots, and expanded custom skill-set slots. Those update notes concern platforms that already had the game; they do not prove that every update detail or performance result applies identically to Switch 2. Capcom’s update announcement describes TU3.2 in that existing-platform context.

What does Switch 2 performance look like?
Meristation’s launch-period hands-on review reports an average of about 45 frames per second with the reviewer’s selected options. It describes output using upscaling at 1440p docked and 1080p handheld, while also noting resolution changes in some scenes and pop-in affecting scenery and characters. These are observations from that review, not a controlled benchmark or a guarantee for every scene, setting, or play session. If consistent image quality matters more to you than portable play, treat those reported resolution changes and pop-in as relevant trade-offs rather than assuming a fixed result.

- Buy the Switch 2 edition if you are new to the game, want the main game and expansion together, and value playing on Nintendo’s console.
- Compare before rebuying if you already own the base game: check your local bundle and DLC prices, and decide how much portability is worth to you.
