Checkpoint Rest Town is a border stop west of Vernworth, where several early quests and key services converge before the road into Battahl. Visit Ibrahim’s Scrap Store, Celeste’s Smithy, Morris’s Pharmacy and The Sword & Staff, then check the quest board of opportunities around town and nearby areas. Capcom’s June 2026 update, as reported by PC Gamer, added a Portcrystal here, so check your in-game map and version before planning travel.
Where Checkpoint Rest Town is—and how to cross the border
The town lies west of Vernworth on the route to Battahl. You can reach it by oxcart, and passing through the guarded gate depends on story progress and having the required entry permit. The crossing is not simply an open road: if the gate will not let you through, continue the main story and check your permit rather than assuming the route is broken. The location guide’s access details are available at IGN’s Checkpoint Rest Town guide.

Travel options have changed with updates. PC Gamer reports that Capcom’s June 10, 2026 update added Portcrystals to Checkpoint Rest Town, Melve and Volcanic Island Camp; it also made Ferrystones usable from the map, extended oxcart hours from morning through evening, and added an Eternal Ferrystone after speaking to Brant during Seat of the Sovran. These are reported patch-note changes, not a guarantee for every game version. Check your map, inventory and shop stock in-game if your installation is on a different version.
Quests to start or complete in the area
Quest availability depends on your story progress. The town’s quest list includes three Vermund-side quests and one that becomes relevant after entering Battahl. GamesRadar’s quest guide lists the town-area quests; the Ancient Battleground quest is nearby, not inside the settlement.

- A Grand Adventure – Dragon’s Dogma 2 begins in a subterranean jail, where the Dragon’s voice echoes in the fog of lost memories. With their heart taken by the Dragon, the Arisen is set on a path to slay that symbol of the world’s destruction as it soars through the sky on massive wings, breathing flames that scorch everything in its path. With the Arisen’s future veiled in mystery, what challenges and triumphs await on the path to their destiny?
- Single-Player Cooperation – Up to three mysterious otherworldly beings, known as Pawns, accompany the Arisen throughout their journey. Pawns create the feeling of a cooperative gameplay experience by offering unique characteristics, skills, and knowledge gained from their experiences with other Arisen.
- Made with RE ENGINE – Capcom’s advanced RE ENGINE produces vividly detailed, high fidelity graphics combined with immersive physics and complex and reactive character AI to create a setting where decisions, and their consequences, come to life.
The Sorcerer’s Appraisal
This is one of the quests associated with Checkpoint Rest Town during early Vermund progress. If it is not available yet, advance the main story and return rather than treating the town’s quest list as a fixed sequence.
Hunt for the Jadeite Orb
This quest centers on competing requests for the same Jadeite Orb. Ibrahim’s Scrap Store matters because it can be involved in the item’s purchase and forgery outcomes. The available evidence establishes those mechanics, but not enough detail to recommend one dialogue path or claim a universally best reward. Decide based on the requests and information presented in your own quest log; save your choice for the outcome you want rather than assuming there is a single correct answer.

Prey for the Pack
Morris asks for help finding his missing grandson, Rodge. Speak with Morris, gather information near the oxcart station, then search at night: blue-glowing Moonglow flowers mark the route toward Putrid Cave. Defeat the wolves there and escort Rodge back to Morris. GameSpot lists the reward as 11,000 gold and two Miracle Roborants. Its walkthrough is at GameSpot’s Prey for the Pack guide.
Mercy among Thieves
This quest is associated with the area after you cross into Battahl. If you have not passed the border yet, do not expect it to be available as part of the initial Vermund-side visit.

Tolled to Rest: nearby, not in town
Tolled to Rest takes place at the Ancient Battleground, a nearby destination rather than a quest within Checkpoint Rest Town itself. Keep it on your regional checklist, but do not confuse its location with the town’s own quests.
Services and shops worth visiting
Ibrahim’s Scrap Store
Ibrahim’s is useful beyond ordinary shopping. If you accidentally sell an important quest item, the store can help you recover it; it also offers item duplication and forgery services. That makes it especially relevant to Hunt for the Jadeite Orb, where the item and its possible outcomes are central. See IGN’s Ibrahim’s Scrap Store listing for its location and service details.
Rank #4
- Relic Expedition Cycle – Throughout their journey in the kingdom of Norgan, the Arisen must unearth and appraise forgotten relics to unlock powerful new weapons and skills.
- New Dungeon Challenges – The 12 freshly uncovered Lost Rites dungeons house trials designed by the Pathfinder to sharpen the Arisen’s skills and recover rare equipment once held by past Arisen that now lay dormant.
- Deeper Character Customization – New tattoo and hair options have been added to the already robust character creation tool in Dragon’s Dogma 2 so Arisen and Pawns can have even deeper personalization.
- Now on Nintendo Switch 2 – Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen brings the classic fantasy world of Dragon’s Dogma 2 and the Dark Arisen Expansion to the Nintendo Switch 2 for the first time.
- Pre-order Bonuses – The Norgan Fashion Set - Northern Attire will be available as a pre-order bonus, which can be accessed via in-game storage at launch.
Celeste’s Smithy
Celeste’s is the town’s smithy. PC Gamer’s report on the June 2026 update says the shop added the Hollow Cape to its lineup. Inventory can vary by game version, so verify the current stock at the smithy rather than relying on an older list.
Morris’s Pharmacy
Morris is both a town service and the quest-giver for Prey for the Pack. Speak with him if you want to pursue Rodge’s disappearance, and visit the pharmacy for its available supplies.

The Sword & Staff inn
The inn provides a place to rest in town. It is also a practical stop before night searches or a longer journey across the border.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.A practical visit checklist
- Check your story progress and permit. If your plan includes Battahl, confirm that the main story has opened the crossing and that you have the required entry permit.
- Speak with Morris. Start Prey for the Pack if available, and note the oxcart station as the place to ask around.
- Visit Ibrahim’s Scrap Store. Check its services before making a consequential Jadeite Orb decision, and remember it if you later misplace or sell a quest item.
- Check Celeste’s Smithy and the other services. Shop stock is update-sensitive; compare what you see in-game with any older guide.
- Plan your night trip for Rodge. Follow the Moonglow flowers toward Putrid Cave, defeat the wolves and bring him back.
- Use the map for onward travel. If your version includes the June 2026 changes, Checkpoint Rest Town has a Portcrystal and Ferrystones can be used from the map.
This is a checklist of the quests and services established for the location, not a claim that it covers every NPC schedule, shop price or collectible.
