How to repel the dragon in Melve
Join the villagers in the fight rather than treating this as a required solo boss battle. Focus your attacks on the dragon’s vulnerable spots. PowerPyx describes red, pulsing growths on its legs and neck: breaking several can stagger it, giving you an opening to attack its head. Gamer Guides also identifies the glowing heart on its chest as a weak point, while GameSkinny recommends attacking body blisters and keeping out of the way of its fire breath.

Ranged weapons are one practical option for hitting exposed growths while maintaining distance, but you can also attack vulnerable spots with melee weapons when an opening presents itself. Continue dealing damage until the dragon retreats. The walkthroughs differ on how much health it must lose; one gives an estimate of about half, but that should not be treated as a universal threshold.
If you want optional loot
Gamer Guides says repeated hits to the glowing chest heart can improve the chance of obtaining Wyrmslife Crystals. That is an optional loot aim, not a requirement for completing the quest. You may also speak with Sigurd after the encounter to learn Mystic Spearhand; this conversation is optional as well.

What to do after the dragon retreats
- Follow the post-fight scene. Watch the scene involving Ulrika and Rennart. The dragon’s retreat is enough to move the quest forward; you do not need to finish it off.
- Leave Melve and rest. Rest for about a day, then return to the village. Gamer Guides notes that you may need to rest more than once before the next event is available.
- Visit Ulrika’s house in Melve. Go to her house near the top end of the village and follow the scenes. When prompted, agree to stay overnight. Ulrika will be gone in the morning, and Lennart will explain what to do next.
- Look for Ulrika in Harve Village. The Harve scene is associated with Trouble on the Cape. Speak with Ulrika there during or after that quest, depending on your progress.
- Return to Lennart in Melve. Go back to Ulrika’s house and tell Lennart that Ulrika is safe. That completes Readvent of Calamity.
If Ulrika is missing in Harve Village
Quest walkthroughs differ on the precise conditions for finding her. Gamer Guides reports that Ulrika may not appear until you have completed Monster Culling and Scaly Invaders; PowerPyx connects her appearance with Trouble on the Cape. If she is absent, complete the Harve-related quests available to you, then return and check again.
When to complete Readvent of Calamity
Complete the quest before progressing through Feast of Deception. PowerPyx and GameSkinny identify that quest as a cutoff after which Readvent of Calamity becomes unavailable. The guides give differing accounts of the earlier trigger: they mention combinations of Vernworth progression, Captain Brant quests, Seat of the Sovran, Scaly Invaders, and reaching Battahl. Because those accounts do not establish one definitive prerequisite list, revisit Melve as you advance the main story and clear any outstanding local tasks if the quest has not appeared.
