To give an NPC a gift in Dragon’s Dogma 2, speak to them, choose the Gift or Give Gift interaction, select an item, and confirm. Check the recipient’s preferred gift types in Pause Menu → History → NPC Logbook first: a matching gift is more reliable for raising affinity, and a confirmed gift consumes the item.
How to give an NPC a gift
- Talk to the NPC you want to give an item to.
- Choose the Gift prompt or Give Gift option during the conversation.
- Select an item from the inventory panel and confirm. The prompt and controls may look different depending on your platform.
Guides report that you can offer items, weapons, and armor. Because the selected item is spent when you confirm, do not choose anything you want to keep.

How to check what an NPC likes
Open Pause Menu → History → NPC Logbook and inspect the recipient’s entry for preferred gift types. Choose an item that matches a listed type when possible; preferences vary by character, so there is no single best gift for everyone.
Examples of gift types
Game8’s guide gives examples of the categories: Adorable gifts include fruit, flowers, and beetles; Beautiful gifts include flowers and ores; and Expensive gifts include gemstones, valuable materials, and high-cost consumables. These are examples, not a universal preference list. Use the NPC’s own Logbook entry rather than assuming a character likes every item in a category.

What gifts do—and how often to give them
Gifts raise NPC affinity, but the available guides do not establish that every NPC gives the same reward or that gifting guarantees romance, a discount, or a quest. Completing quests is another reported way to raise affinity.
GameSpot’s guide reports that gifts can increase affinity once per day. If another gift does not improve affinity, resting and trying again on a later day may help; this timing is guide-reported rather than confirmed here by an official Capcom explanation.

Choosing an item without wasting it
There is no universally best gift established for all NPCs. Before confirming, weigh whether the Logbook lists the item’s type, whether you can spare the item permanently, and how readily you can obtain another. A less costly item the NPC likes may be a better choice than valuable equipment or materials you need.
