Spoilers for the final main quest, the ordinary ending, and the Unmoored World. To unlock the true-ending route in Dragon’s Dogma 2, use the Empowered Godsbane Blade on the Dragon’s chest while clinging to its back during the final sequence of Legacy. That changes the finale and sends you to the Unmoored World. If you already saw the ordinary ending, you can still return to that decision by speaking repeatedly to the Pathfinder during the credits.
How to unlock the true ending
- Reach the final Dragon sequence in Legacy. The decision comes at the end of this main quest, not through an earlier dialogue choice. It is a point of no return, so make a manual or inn save beforehand if you want a fallback. Completing side content first is optional planning, not an unlock requirement.
- Cling to the Dragon and move toward its chest. When the chest is presented as a target, open your inventory and use the Empowered Godsbane Blade.
- Follow the changed finale into the Unmoored World. This is the post-game segment of the true-ending route. Its red beacons mark major threats and urgent objectives.
The key action is using the Empowered Godsbane Blade on the Dragon’s chest while riding on its back. Choosing the ordinary ending instead does not permanently lock you out, as long as you act during the credits recovery sequence below. GameSpot’s walkthrough and Game8’s guide describe this route.

Already saw the ordinary ending? Return through the credits
As the credits play in the throne room, find and speak to the Pathfinder. Keep speaking with him as he changes locations. Continue following him and talking until he sends you back to the Dragonback sequence. You can then make the same Empowered Godsbane Blade decision at the Dragon’s chest.
This recovery route is available during the credits; the crucial step is continuing to speak with the Pathfinder rather than simply letting the credits finish. GameSpot’s walkthrough covers the Pathfinder route.

What to do in the Unmoored World
Prioritize beacons and evacuations
Once in the Unmoored World, inspect the available red beacons and address their threats. The route also includes evacuation objectives for settlements. Treat these as urgent tasks: the red fog advances as time passes, so handle major threats and evacuations before spending days resting.
There is no need to complete every side activity before entering the Unmoored World, but once there, prioritize the objectives you care about and avoid unnecessary rests. Leave the Seafloor Shrine beacon until you are ready
The final red beacon is at the Seafloor Shrine. Interacting with it ends the route and triggers the ending sequence. Before activating it, finish any evacuations, trials, or other world tasks you still want to do. The shrine beacon is the point to conclude the run, not just another objective to clear on the way.
Choosing when to finish
The order matters most in two places: using the blade during the Dragon ride, and deciding when to activate the terminal beacon. Use this checklist before ending the run:

Do I need to do things in a specific order for the true ending?
Use the Empowered Godsbane Blade on the Dragon’s chest during the final Dragon ride in Legacy. In the Unmoored World, prioritize the red-beacon threats and evacuations before the red fog advances, and save the Seafloor Shrine beacon for when you are ready to finish.

What are the red beams in the Unmoored World?
They are beacons marking major threats and urgent objectives. The final one at the Seafloor Shrine triggers the ending sequence.
Does the Unmoored World have a time limit?
Resting advances time and the red fog, which removes safe areas. Prioritize urgent objectives and avoid unnecessary rests.
