When reports were published on March 29, 2024, the update was live on PC/Steam and PS5, while Xbox Series X|S was still waiting. Capcom said Xbox updates were planned for “the next few days,” but the exact rollout completion date is not established by the contemporaneous reports.
What the first Dragon’s Dogma 2 update changed
The central change addressed a frustrating menu limitation: players could now choose to start a new game even if they already had save data. The update also included shared gameplay and quality-of-life changes reported for the console and Steam versions:

- Pawn Guilds would offer up to 99 Art of Metamorphosis items.
- The quest to acquire a dwelling became available earlier.
- Miscellaneous text-display issues and other bugs were addressed.
Windows Central’s March 29, 2024 report and Pure Xbox’s March 29, 2024 report described the same core changes.
How to start a new game if save data already exists
After installing the update, use the game’s new start-new-game option from the normal game menu. Its purpose is to let you begin again without first needing to remove existing save data. The reports establish the option’s availability but do not provide a more detailed menu path.

Why the update was late on Xbox
On March 29, 2024, Windows Central and Pure Xbox reported that the update was already available on PC/Steam and PS5, but had not yet arrived on Xbox Series X|S. Capcom’s statement, quoted by Pure Xbox, was: “Updates to Xbox Series X|S are planned in the next few days.” Neither report establishes exactly when the Xbox rollout finished or how timing varied by region. They also do not establish a reason for the delay, so attributing it to certification or another platform process would go beyond the available reporting.

The shared changes covered the new-game option, Pawn Guild item availability, earlier access to the dwelling quest, and miscellaneous fixes. The reports also listed platform-specific display and graphics changes:

The Xbox toggles let players change graphics settings; the 30 FPS option sets a maximum, rather than promising a performance improvement. Likewise, the patch notes said broader frame-rate improvements were planned for future updates. This first update should not be mistaken for that general performance fix.
