Its creator describes it as “A minesweeper game that requires observation.” A February 2025 update added monsters and revised others, making this a timely pick for anyone who enjoys learning patterns and weighing risk—though the developer warns that mobile support may be imperfect.
What makes Dragonsweeper stand out
The game’s central appeal is not simply uncovering safe squares; it is figuring out what the monsters are telling you. Benmergui’s official page explicitly asks players to “Make sure to read the monsternomicon,” pointing to the importance of learning enemy rules rather than treating every board as a familiar Minesweeper puzzle. The official game page is available at itch.io.
That makes the experience a fit for players who like observation, pattern recognition and deliberate risk management. You study what the game has taught you, use those rules to narrow down possibilities, and decide whether the information is enough to act. The pleasure is in turning a board that initially feels uncertain into something you can reason about.
Why 2025 is a good time to try it
Benmergui’s developer log records a substantial update on February 6, 2025. The update summary says: “Major new stuff added to Dragonsweeper! new monsters and changed some old monsters’ behaviors adjusted the challenge improved UI basic mobile support (will not be perfect unless the game is redesigned…” It describes new monsters, changed behavior for existing monsters, adjusted challenge, a UI improvement and basic mobile support. The summary ends mid-thought on the developer page; its warning is clear, however: mobile support may not be perfect. See the developer log for the update.

Comments on the official page capture the game’s split personality. Some players describe satisfaction from learning enemy patterns and winning; others call it difficult or describe moments when a move feels uncertain. Those are individual impressions, not a guarantee that every run will feel fair or a representative survey of players. The uncertainty is part of the appeal for some, and a source of frustration for others.
How to play it, and what the download is
The creator’s page lists the game as an HTML5 puzzle, tagged Minesweeper and Roguelike, and offers browser play as well as a name-your-own-price download. The listed downloadable file is a source archive, not a boxed or physical edition. If you want to get started without downloading anything, use the browser-play option on the official game page.

The developer added basic mobile support in the February 6, 2025 update, while cautioning that it may be imperfect. Recent comments on the game page report loading problems on iOS and Safari. Compatibility has not been independently tested here, so do not assume it will work reliably on every phone or browser. Check the creator-hosted page for the latest status; if the game fails to load on a mobile device, trying it in a desktop browser is a practical alternative.
