Funcom said a hotfix fixed item duplication involving the Exchange, trades and inventories, while warning that duplicate-looking items could appear on a player’s client without existing as real copies. Later official updates describe continuing anti-exploit work, but do not establish that every possible exploit has been eliminated.
What the July 2025 item-duping report described
GamesRadar reported that Funcom’s Hotfix 2 addressed an item-duplication vulnerability affecting the Exchange, trading and inventories. The patch wording, reproduced in GamesRadar’s July 2025 report, said: “Fixed a vulnerability that allowed item duplication at the Exchange, while trading or in inventories. Visually, you may see duplicated items on your game client, but they don’t exist.”
That warning matters: an item that appears duplicated on one client is not, by appearance alone, proof that the game created a second usable item. The report did not establish a measured rate for how widespread the exploit was, so “rampant” should not be read as a verified estimate of how many players used it.
Was the item dupe still working?
The July 2025 coverage supports saying that Funcom fixed the specific vulnerability described in the Hotfix 2 announcement. It does not establish whether a different exploit works now. Xbox Wire’s September 22, 2026 launch coverage says Funcom had addressed duping and exploit issues and “will continue to do so.” The Xbox Wire article is evidence of continued work, not a guarantee that every possible duplication route has been found or closed.

The official Dune: Awakening Steam news feed also summarizes fixes for multiple exploit categories, including item duplication, Solari duplication in social hubs, durability restoration, schematic duplication and out-of-bounds routes. These separate categories reinforce that exploit fixes have occurred over time; they do not verify any currently working method.
Item duplication was not the same as the Solari and vehicle issues
A separate July 2025 report covered a Solari-duplication fix involving city bankers and a vehicle-permission vulnerability. GamesRadar also reported that a developer confirmed a ban wave was already happening. These were distinct issues, not additional details of the Exchange/trading/inventory item vulnerability. Can players be banned for duping?
GamesRadar’s July 2025 report stated that a developer confirmed a ban wave was underway after players exploited systems for duplicate currency. That is evidence of enforcement against exploits in that period, but it does not specify a universal penalty for every case or establish that every player who encounters a visual duplicate will be banned. The patch announcement’s warning about client-side appearances is a reason not to treat a visual glitch alone as proof of an actual duplicate.

What to do if something looks duplicated
- Do not try to reproduce or exploit the behavior; the reports concern vulnerabilities that Funcom has worked to address.
- If the item appears duplicated only on your screen, avoid assuming it is a valid second copy.
- Report suspicious behavior through Funcom’s official support channels. The Dune: Awakening Help Center includes known-issues information; its September 28, 2026 page does not list an active item-duplication notice.
