Its current status is unverified. A July 2025 report documented a related ornithopter collision-griefing problem and a knockback fix being tested, but it did not establish that the behavior was the same exploit or confirm the final live rollout.
What the reported ornithopter exploit involved
On July 30, 2025, PC Gamer’s Christopher Livingston reported that Funcom was testing a change to address ornithopter griefing in public test version 1.1.20. The reported behavior involved one craft pinning another, including at a spice-harvesting site, where the pinned pilot could be left vulnerable to a sandworm. PC Gamer’s report described the test and Funcom’s aim to bring the change to the main game in August 2025.

That account supports describing the older issue as vehicle-to-vehicle collision griefing. It does not establish the precise mechanics of the behavior called “goomba-stomp,” or prove that the headline phrase refers to exactly the same exploit.
What the proposed fix was
The public-test change was intended to knock colliding ornithopters apart, preventing one craft from continuing to pin another. The 2025 report described a test build and intended rollout; it did not confirm a final live-game patch number or verify that the change shipped as described.

Is the exploit patched in the current game?
The available official status information does not settle that question. Funcom’s Known Issues page, updated September 28, 2026, lists some ornithopter and vehicle problems but does not specifically mention the “goomba-stomp” behavior or confirm its fix. A missing entry is not proof that an issue has been resolved.
Funcom directs players to its patch notes and known-issues information for updates. The patch-notes page could not be verified for this article, so there is no confirmed current live-build status to report. Check those official pages for a direct fix note before treating the exploit as patched.

Where players can check for updates
- Funcom patch notes: look for a specific ornithopter collision or exploit fix in a live update, rather than relying on the earlier test announcement.
- Funcom Known Issues: consult the current list, while remembering that omission does not confirm resolution.
- For discussion, Funcom points players to the official Dune: Awakening Discord and Steam Discussions.
Dune: Awakening is a single- and multiplayer open-world survival game in which players can craft ornithopters, according to Bandai Namco’s official game page. The reported collision behavior therefore concerns an in-game vehicle interaction, but the public evidence does not establish that every use of “goomba-stomp” describes the same interaction.
