To complete Chief Hanso’s Search and Retrieval contract in Dune: Awakening, track it in the contracts interface, follow the compass markers to collect four Spice Miner’s Guild tags and examine the discarded comms device, then return to Hanso. The bodies are reported around the Mithra crash site: one in a cave to the south, one on a southeast cliffside, and two to the north.
What the Search and Retrieval contract requires
Chief Hanso issues this Hagga Basin story contract. Its listed objectives are to search four Kirab camps for Guild Tags, examine a discarded comms device, and return to Hanso. The contract reference for game version 1.5.3.6 lists rewards of 150 XP and 1,500 Solaris; these are in-game reward values, with no publication year specified by the source. Where to find the four tags and comms device
Track the contract before searching. Use its compass markers to guide you toward each target; the locations below are one guide author’s observations, not guaranteed fixed placements. The detailed walkthrough, dated September 16, 2025, describes the locations relative to the Mithra crash site. TheGamer’s Search and Retrieval walkthrough.
- First tag — south of the crash site: Search the Kirab camp roughly 100 meters south of the Mithra crash site. Check the cave at the back, including the corner.
- Second tag — southeast: Look along the exterior rock wall southeast of the site, especially near the cliff edge.
- Third tag — north: Search north of the crash site around the debris. The body may be easy to confuse with other bodies, so approach until the interact prompt appears.
- Fourth tag and comms device — north, below the main platform: Continue to the northern area near the third location. Check slightly below the main platform by the cliff; the walkthrough reports the comms device beside this final tag.
How to handle a missing or unresponsive body
The walkthrough warns that fallen crew-member positions can vary slightly and that some bodies it encountered could not be interacted with. Treat the contract’s compass markers as your navigation anchor rather than assuming every body is at an exact, repeatable spot. When you reach a reported area, search nearby and confirm that the interact prompt appears before moving on.

Return to Chief Hanso
Once you have collected all four Guild Tags and examined the comms device, return to Chief Hanso and complete the contract. The contract reference lists returning to Hanso as the final objective.
What happens after completion
The location walkthrough reports that Kief Vallari, identified as Safety Warden of the Spice Miner’s Guild, contacts the player after the items are returned. It describes this as the start of the Villari’s Prize storyline. A community wiki also reproduces dialogue attributed to Hanso and Vallari, but those lines are community-transcribed rather than independently verified against an official script, so they should not be treated as verified quotations.
