Basic and advanced skill trainers in Dune: Awakening are spread between tradeposts, landmarks, and the Arrakeen and Harko Village hubs. Use the class-by-class locations below to find each NPC, identify the relevant quest, and see where advanced training is found. For your primary class, the basic quest is already complete, so you can go directly to its advanced trainer.

Basic skill trainer locations

These directions follow the landmarks and NPC descriptions in Method’s guide, published September 13, 2026. The guide is not official Funcom documentation, and one location description does not name its city, so that entry is kept deliberately general.

Planetologist — Derek Chinara

Derek is near Griffin’s Reach Tradepost. Head toward Testing Station 2, then look below the rocks to the southeast; the path runs along the western side of the rock formation. His quest sends you into the station to retrieve a Minimic Film. Return it to Derek to unlock the Planetologist skill tree. Method recommends this tree for gathering and exploration passives; that is the guide’s recommendation, not a requirement.

Trooper — Ghavouri

Ghavouri is just inside the entrance to Griffin’s Reach Tradepost, on the left. The “Proving Grounds” quest requires you to assassinate three targets: one at Kaleff’s Stand, one at Shamal Tunnel, and one at Edgeway Cavern. Return to Ghavouri after completing the objectives.

Mentat — Samin Moro

Samin is at the bottom of a large staircase on the south side of the city’s exterior area. Method’s location description does not identify the city, so use the staircase and south-side exterior as clues rather than assuming a city name.

Bene Gesserit — Sister Mesa

Find Sister Mesa at Helius Gate, where the southern Shield Wall meets Jabal Eifrit. She is at the top of a large rock formation. Method associates “The Missing Pieces” with unlocking the Bene Gesserit skill tree.

Swordmaster — Arno

Arno is inside Pinnacle Station Tradepost in Jabal Eifrit, slightly north of the Bene Gesserit location. Complete “Checking the Post” to unlock Swordmaster.

Advanced skill trainer locations

Class Trainer location Finding the NPC
Planetologist Imperial Testing Station No. 197, West Vermillius Look at the bottom of the pit, before entering the dungeon proper.
Trooper Arrakeen Go to the second floor of the inner market. Method says Arrakeen is reachable by fast travel from a tradepost.
Mentat Arrakeen Look at the back of the downstairs bar area.
Bene Gesserit Harko Village Search the lower-level tunnel beneath the raised area. The NPC can be difficult to spot; Method suggests using a blue light as a clue.
Swordmaster Harko Village Go to the far back corner at the top. If the local map is awkward to scroll, head north until the relevant map area appears.

How basic and advanced training unlock

For your primary class, Method says the basic quest is already complete, so you can head straight to that class’s advanced trainer. For a secondary class, find its basic trainer and complete the associated quest to unlock the tree. Advanced training is the next progression gate after the basic quest when you want to keep spending points in that class tree.

Method’s September 2026 guide describes advanced quest chains and reports that trainer questlines unlock archetype armor sets. Quest steps and rewards can change, so check the current in-game quest objectives rather than relying on an older chain count or assuming a reward is unchanged.

A practical route between the hubs

  1. Start around Griffin’s Reach: use the tradepost directions for the basic Planetologist and Trooper trainers.
  2. Continue to the Shield Wall and Jabal Eifrit: look for Sister Mesa at Helius Gate and Arno at Pinnacle Station Tradepost.
  3. Visit Arrakeen for advanced training: find the Trooper trainer on the inner market’s second floor and the Mentat trainer behind the downstairs bar area.
  4. Finish at Harko Village: search the lower tunnel for the Bene Gesserit trainer and the far upper corner for the Swordmaster trainer.

This is a convenient grouping of the guide’s directions, not an official route or a claim that it is the fastest itinerary. Planetologist advanced training is separately located at Imperial Testing Station No. 197 in West Vermillius.

Map labels and location-count caveat

Map-area summaries do not line up cleanly across the available guides. Game8’s June 2025 search-result summary groups basic trainers and the advanced Planetologist trainer in Hagga Basin, with other advanced trainers in Arrakeen or Harko Village. Its page could not be opened, so those summary labels should not override the individual landmark directions above. Method’s newer guide provides the specific directions used here.

An interactive-map search result advertised 21 trainers across three maps, but the opened page displayed zero trainers across one map. That count is not reliable enough to treat as a confirmed total. For the class-by-class locations and quest clues in this guide, see Method’s trainer guide. Older references include Game8’s trainer locations page and IGN’s trainer-location video, both published in 2025.
