Update 1.5 and the console release are live: Dune: Awakening arrived on PlayStation 5 and Xbox in September 2026, bringing full-game solo play and the finale of Book One. The next major announced addition is the Polar Cap survival map, planned for later in 2026; cross-play is also planned after launch, but Funcom has not announced a date for it.

What has already shipped?
Update 1.5 and the PS5 and Xbox launch
The September 2026 release brought Dune: Awakening to PlayStation 5 and Xbox alongside Update 1.5. The update added the finale of Book One and a full single-player mode. Funcom says the complete game—including the open world and Deep Desert—can be played solo, with customizable survival settings. In multiplayer, PvP is optional, so players can pursue a PvE route instead. See Level Infinite’s platform-launch recap for the publisher’s summary.

Xbox players can access the game through Game Pass, and Xbox Wire says the release supports Play Anywhere progression. Funcom also confirmed physical PS5 distribution, with availability varying by territory. Chapter 3
Chapter 3 delivered the rebuilt Landsraad, repeatable missions, Tier 6 augmentation, 10 new overland locations, two new weapons, and a new story chapter. It also introduced five specialization progression paths: Crafting, Gathering, Exploration, Combat, and Sabotage. The publisher says base taxation was removed. Chapter 3’s free update was distinct from Raiders of the Broken Lands, a paid DLC released alongside it. Similarly, Update 1.4 launched alongside the paid The Water Wars DLC. An update arriving with an add-on does not mean all accompanying content is part of the free patch.

What is coming next?
Polar Cap map: later in 2026, with no exact day
In its September 22, 2026 announcement, Funcom said the Polar Cap survival map was “releasing later this year.” The plan includes new areas to explore, cold-based survival mechanics, and a standalone storyline. That is a target window, not a guaranteed delivery date; the announcement does not specify a day or month. Read the announcement.
Cross-play: confirmed for after launch, date unknown
Funcom has confirmed cross-play is coming post-launch, but has not said when. Its August 26, 2026 Gamescom announcement explicitly said a release date was not ready to share; the September announcement reiterated post-launch timing without adding one. No firm long-term update calendar
The latest high-level announcement gives a window for Polar Cap and a post-launch plan for cross-play, but no fixed schedule for subsequent updates. Funcom’s August 2025 developer update described a monthly cycle for reviewing feedback, bugs, and fixes, while noting that the cadence was not always achieved. Separate free game updates from paid DLC when checking what a roadmap item includes. Chapter 3’s update was free, while Raiders of the Broken Lands was paid DLC; Update 1.4 was released alongside The Water Wars DLC. The September 2026 Filmic Archive recap listed that DLC at $9.99 on all platforms at announcement. It includes film-inspired clothing, 73 Sardaukar building pieces, decorations, weapons, and emotes.
