The exact folder depends on the Video deluxe or other MAGIX product and release. Do not copy a file into System32 or `SysWOW64 simply because an error mentions a missing DLL.

Fix 1: Repair or reinstall the exact MAGIX product

- Open File Explorer and browse to the disc or installer folder.
- Right-click the setup program and select Run as administrator.
- Select the existing MAGIX installation when prompted.
- Choose repair or reinstall.
- Restart Windows when the setup finishes.

Fix 3: Resolve a MAGIX version conflict
A particularly important error is:
DVDMaker.dll has detected a version conflict. The program version requires DLLAV32.DLL version 6.1.124 or higher.
The exact wording may vary, but a message involving DLLAV32.DLL points to an incompatible set of MAGIX or burner components rather than a simple missing file.
This can happen when:
- More than one Video deluxe release is installed
- An older MAGIX product was partially removed
- A burner-routine update was applied to the wrong release
- Shared components were overwritten by another MAGIX installation
- A DLL was copied manually from a different computer
Use this sequence:
- Open Settings with Windows key + I.
- Select Apps.
- Select Installed apps.
- Search for MAGIX and Video deluxe.
- Write down every installed MAGIX version before removing anything.
- Uninstall the product producing the error.
- Restart Windows.
- Reinstall the desired product from its matching MAGIX installer.

- Uninstall the affected MAGIX product.
- Restart Windows.
- Check for leftover folders belonging specifically to that product under:

- Also check the user profile location:
%AppData%RoamingMAGIX
- Remove only folders clearly belonging to the uninstalled product and version.
- Do not delete arbitrary MAGIX folders if another installed MAGIX application uses them.
- Restart Windows again.
- Download the matching installer through MAGIX Service Center or use the original installation media.
- Install the product.
- Apply its exact product updates.
- Restart and test the DVD workflow.
Folder names vary between products and releases. If you are uncertain which folder belongs to the affected application, leave it in place and ask MAGIX support rather than deleting shared application data.
Fix 5: Check the application folder and file architecture
A 64-bit Windows installation can run a 32-bit MAGIX program, but the program must load a compatible 32-bit DLL and compatible dependencies. Do not replace a legacy application DLL with a random 64-bit file.
To check the installation:
- Right-click the MAGIX shortcut.
- Select Properties.
- Open the Shortcut tab.
- Select Open File Location.
- Look for
dvdmaker.dllin the same application directory or an expected component folder. - Right-click the file and select Properties.
- Open the Details tab.
- Compare the description and product information with the MAGIX installation.
- Open the Digital Signatures tab if one is present.
- Check whether the file came from the original installer.
The reported description may appear as DvdMaker DLL and the product as DvdMaker Dynamic Link Library. Missing signature information alone does not prove that the file is malicious, because older application files may not have a current signature. However, a DLL obtained from an unrelated download site should not be trusted simply because its filename is correct.

Fix 6: Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC
Use Windows repair commands when Windows itself shows broader problems, such as failed updates, damaged built-in applications, repeated installer failures, or other system-file errors. These commands generally do not restore a third-party MAGIX DLL.
Run DISM first
- Right-click the Start button.
- Select Terminal (Admin) or Command Prompt (Admin).
- Select Yes at the User Account Control prompt.
- Enter this command:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Press Enter.
- Wait for the operation to finish.
- Restart Windows.
Do not close the administrator window merely because progress appears to pause. If DISM reports that the operation completed successfully, continue with SFC.
Run System File Checker
- Open Terminal (Admin) again.
- Enter:
sfc /scannow
- Press Enter.
- Wait until verification reaches 100 percent.
- Restart Windows.
- Test MAGIX again.
A successful SFC result means Windows protected system files were checked or repaired. It does not confirm that dvdmaker.dll was restored. If SFC reports that it could not repair some files, repeat the process only after DISM completes successfully, then reinstall MAGIX from its official installer.

Fix 7: Update or reinstall relevant drivers
Drivers are not the normal cause of a missing dvdmaker.dll, but DVD-authoring failures can also involve an optical drive, storage controller, chipset, or graphics driver. Use this step when the application opens but fails while detecting a drive, previewing video, or starting a burn.
- Right-click the Start button.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand DVD/CD-ROM drives.
- Right-click the optical drive.
- Select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
- Repeat for relevant entries under Storage controllers, Display adapters, and System devices.
- Restart Windows.
- Test MAGIX again.
For a driver that recently caused the problem:
- Open Device Manager.
- Expand the relevant category.
- Right-click the device.
- Select Properties.
- Open the Driver tab.
- Select Roll Back Driver if available.
- Restart Windows.

Fix 8: Check Windows Features only when the error points there
Windows Features are not the first place to repair an application-local MAGIX DLL. Do not enable random legacy features in the hope that they will create dvdmaker.dll.
Check optional components only if MAGIX documentation or the complete error specifically identifies a Windows feature:
- Press Windows key + R.
- Enter:
optionalfeatures
- Press Enter.
- Review enabled features.
- Change only the feature required by the MAGIX release.
- Select OK.
- Restart Windows.
Installing Visual C++, DirectX, or .NET without evidence that the specific MAGIX release needs it is not a reliable first-line repair. Reinstalling the parent application is safer because its installer can provide the components it was designed to use.

Do not register dvdmaker.dll with regsvr32
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that register COM or ActiveX components and expose the required registration entry point. A private MAGIX application DLL is normally loaded by the MAGIX executable from its own folder.
Running this command is therefore not a standard repair:
regsvr32 dvdmaker.dll
It may produce an error such as:
DllRegisterServer was not found
Even if registration appears to succeed, it will not repair a missing dependency, wrong version, damaged installation, or incompatible MAGIX release. Do not copy the DLL into System32 or SysWOW64 and then register it.
Avoid random DLL download sites
Downloading dvdmaker.dll from an unrelated DLL website is risky because the file may:
- Contain malware
- Be the wrong version
- Be the wrong architecture
- Require dependencies your installation does not have
- Have been modified or repackaged
- Cause a version conflict with
DLLAV32.DLL - Be placed where another program can load it unexpectedly
The safe sources are the original MAGIX installation media, the installer associated with your MAGIX account, or an official MAGIX support channel. If you no longer use the MAGIX application, uninstalling the orphaned program is safer than restoring a standalone DLL.
If the problem started after an update
If dvdmaker.dll worked until a recent Windows, driver, or software change:
- Press Windows key + R.
- Enter:
rstrui.exe
- Press Enter.
- Select a restore point from before the failure.
- Review the affected programs.
- Select Next and then Finish.
- Allow Windows to restart.
- Test MAGIX.
System Restore does not normally remove personal files, but it can remove applications, drivers, or updates installed after the selected restore point. If the error remains, reinstall the MAGIX product rather than repeatedly restoring the system.
