Techland released Dying Light: The Beast Hotfix 1.2.1 on PC on 22 September 2025 to address rain appearing indoors and a disturbed day/night cycle. The original “coming soon” notice is outdated: Techland said consoles would get the update soon, but the sources available here do not confirm when it reached consoles or what version consoles currently run.
What Hotfix 1.2.1 fixed
Techland’s 22 September 2025 announcement says Hotfix 1.2.1 addresses both “Indoor Rain” and the “Disturbed Day/Night Cycle.” In practical terms, it targeted rain appearing inside buildings as well as the day/night-cycle problem. The announcement does not provide further technical detail about the causes or implementation of either fix.
Players also described the indoor-rain issue as making it hard to see where they were going in a Steam discussion. That is an individual report, not evidence of how many players experienced the problem.
Announcement versus release
| Date | What Techland said | Status established by the announcement |
|---|---|---|
| 20 September 2025 | Techland said it was working over the weekend on a fix for indoor rain and the disturbed day/night cycle, targeting PC and consoles at the beginning of the following week. | A planned rollout, not confirmation that the update had shipped. |
| 22 September 2025 | Techland announced Hotfix 1.2.1 was live on PC and said it fixed both reported issues. It said consoles would follow soon. | PC release confirmed; console timing was still a forecast. |
The dates distinguish the original “coming soon” message from the later PC release notice. Techland’s September 23 reply in the Steam discussion likewise said the indoor-rain and day/night issues had been fixed in 1.2.1.

Console availability and what to check
The dated release notice does not establish the eventual console rollout date, and it does not verify the current version on PlayStation or Xbox. If you play on console, check the game’s update status on your platform rather than assuming the PC release date also applies to your copy.
Steam lists Techland as the developer and publisher and gives Dying Light: The Beast a release date of 18 September 2025. That store listing is useful for the game’s PC context, but it does not verify the current console patch status.

- Hellhound Shotgun: Techland’s 20 September notice said it was being granted to all players as a thank-you gift and could be claimed in the in-game Stash.
- APEX Car Skin: Techland’s 22 September notice said it would appear in the Stash once the hotfix was live on all platforms for players who preordered or owned the game through the Dying Light 2 Ultimate Edition.
Those were rollout announcements; the cited notices do not confirm whether either reward can still be claimed today.
