Dying Light: The Beast separates stat-bearing gear pieces from complete outfit looks. For the strongest practical setup, choose individual gear for its displayed bonuses, then use an outfit or transmog option to shape your character’s appearance. The most straightforward permanent outfit unlocks are tied to finishing the main story; the Deathless Outfit requires the much riskier One Life Mode.

Gear pieces and outfits do different jobs

Gear is equipped piece by piece and can provide bonuses. Examples described in an early guide include shades, gloves, bracers, a vest, and trousers; that list is illustrative, not a verified catalogue of every current slot. The same guide points to Explorer pieces as an early progression example and heavier vest and trousers as defensive choices. Check each item’s in-game stats for its actual effects rather than assuming a piece has a particular bonus.

Complete outfits are coordinated looks, such as rewards delivered through progression or edition content. Transmog gear lets you pursue a different appearance. The available official information does not establish one objectively best-looking outfit, or that a cosmetic look improves performance.

Choose stats and style separately

  • For gameplay: compare the bonuses on individual pieces against your current needs and build.
  • For appearance: use a complete outfit or available transmog options to create a coherent look.

How to unlock the main outfits

Reward or route Requirement What to know
Survivalist Outfit Complete the main narrative in Restored Land. A story-completion reward. Techland Support lists the Restored Land rewards.
Deathless Outfit Complete the experience in One Life Mode. This is a separate, high-stakes requirement, not the ordinary story-completion route. Techland Support lists the Restored Land rewards.
Legend Level outfits Reach Level 15 to begin earning Legend XP, then progress through Legend Levels. Techland lists two complete outfits comprising 12 gear pieces among the rewards, but its article does not name the exact reward thresholds. Check the in-game reward track. Techland Support explains Legend Levels.
Outpost transmog gear Check the Dying Light Outpost Armory. The Armory says lower-tier transmog sets are offered every two weeks. Its stock changes, so check the live inventory rather than relying on an old list. Dying Light Outpost.

Claim rewards from the stash

Reach the second quest, “Safe Haven,” to unlock the in-game stash. Rewards claimed through the Outpost are collected there. The Outpost also describes connecting your platform account to your Outpost account for reward delivery; follow the current account-linking and eligibility instructions shown on the service.

  1. Progress through the story until you complete “Safe Haven,” the second quest.
  2. If a reward requires an Outpost claim or linked account, check its current eligibility and connect the relevant platform account through the Outpost.
  3. Open the in-game stash and retrieve the claimed item.

The Outpost FAQ explains the stash and account-linking mechanism. Its launch-period deadlines should not be treated as evidence that an old timed offer is still available.

Edition and launch rewards: verify before counting on them

Techland’s current game information lists Standard, Deluxe, and Definitive editions; the Castor Woods Prepper Bundle is included with Deluxe. Check the store page for your platform and edition to confirm the items currently included. Techland’s official game page has the current edition information.

A launch-period guide identified the Ultimate Survivor Outfit as part of the Hero of Harran Bundle and described the Legacy Outfit as a free community launch gift. Those details do not establish that either offer can still be newly claimed. If you expect one in your collection, check your platform purchase entitlements, Outpost account linkage, and in-game stash.
