Stay Human unlocks after the main quest School’s Out. Find Liam and Jamie at Exiles Cave, then follow the quest from an abandoned pharmacy to a store, a mountain resort and a farm before returning to Jamie. The pharmacy has no Doravine: the search leads instead to a painful story about Liam and Jamie. The walkthrough below follows the reported objective order; use your active journal objective and map marker if they differ.
How to unlock and start Stay Human
Stay Human is listed as side quest 18 in a guide to the game’s 20 side quests. It becomes available after School’s Out; speak with Liam and Jamie at Exiles Cave to begin. PowerPyx’s side-quest guide says the quests gradually unlock as the story progresses and can still be completed in free roam after the story. You can do this one when it appears for the XP, or return later. If Liam and Jamie or the quest marker are not there, check your journal and progress the main story.

Stay Human walkthrough
1. Search the abandoned pharmacy
Jamie asks you to find Doravine for Liam. Go to the abandoned pharmacy in the Villa Area and search for the medicine. The refrigerator is empty; there is no Doravine to collect. This is a story beat, not a missed item. Leave the pharmacy and continue with the updated objective. If you want, GameTrek notes a collectible near the entrance.
2. Find the Bloodsucking Bunnies T-shirt
Liam asks you to find gifts for Jamie, starting with a Bloodsucking Bunnies rock-band T-shirt. Search the apparel or Vanity Store, including the fitting-room and changing-room area. The guides differ on the precise rack location, so follow the active marker and use Survivor Sense to help locate the item.

3. Clear the mountain resort and collect the wine
Travel to the mountain resort near Mountain Shelter Tower Safe Spot. Raiders occupy the area, so clear them before searching the cabin. On the lowest floor, look for a vent leading into a hidden wine cellar and collect both bottles.
4. Find the family drawing in the attic
The last gift is a drawing from Liam and Jamie’s childhood. The direct attic entrance is locked. The walkthroughs describe reaching the attic through a bathroom or floor vent and climbing pipes; the precise route differs, so use the objective marker and look for climbable pipes and vents. GameTrek calls the item Liam’s Drawing and notes a balcony moment with Liam before you leave.

5. Go to the farm and confront Liam
Meet Liam at the farm, also described in one guide as the Abandoned Base. Read Liam’s Letter at the hut, then enter the building. Liam has turned; kill him to complete this objective.
6. Return to Jamie at Exiles Cave
Go back to Exiles Cave and speak with Jamie to deliver the gifts and finish the quest. The gifts were part of Liam’s plan to give Jamie good memories of a birthday, rather than an ordinary celebration.

Rewards and whether the quest is missable
GameTrek and Patch Crazy both list the reward as 10,000 XP and two Legendary Manual Pages. These are figures reported by those 2025 walkthroughs, not an official developer reward listing: GameTrek’s Stay Human walkthrough and Patch Crazy’s guide.
The available side-quest guide says the game’s listed side quests remain completable after the story in free roam, so it does not identify Stay Human as missable. Doing it when it unlocks can provide XP before later story missions; postponing it lets you return later rather than requiring a separate quest outcome.
Stay Human and Restored Land encounters
Stay Human is a named side quest with its own objectives. It is separate from the random quest encounters added in Restored Land. In a March 27, 2026 article, Techland Lead Level Designer Piotr Pawlaczyk said the update adds 36 encounters that appear randomly along quest paths, describing the goal as making travel between main quest moments more engaging. Those encounters are not additional steps in Stay Human. Xbox Wire’s Restored Land feature.
