What EA and Respawn announced
Respawn said it had decided to “step away from two early-stage incubation projects” and make “some targeted adjustments” across its Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi teams. The statement, quoted by Game Informer, did not name either canceled project.

Bloomberg reporting, summarized by Game Informer and Reuters, identified one of them as an extraction shooter set in the Titanfall universe. That description comes from reporting, not Respawn’s public announcement.
Was the canceled game Titanfall 3?
The sources do not establish that. They describe a very early-stage project in the Titanfall universe, but do not confirm an official title or say it was planned as a numbered sequel. Calling it Titanfall 3 as a fact would go beyond what has been reported.

The sources also do not state the project’s budget, team size, platforms or intended release date. Respawn’s announcement referred to two incubation projects without naming them; the Titanfall connection and extraction-shooter genre were attributed to Bloomberg’s reporting.
How many EA and Respawn employees were laid off?
Reuters reported Bloomberg’s estimate of 300 to 400 job cuts across EA, including around 100 at Respawn. These are reported estimates, not an exact final tally confirmed by EA.

Game Informer’s update summarized the company-wide estimate differently, as roughly 200 to 300 cuts, while also reporting about 100 at Respawn. Because the summaries differ on the EA-wide range, the available material does not support presenting a single confirmed total. Respawn said it would support affected employees, including by exploring new opportunities within EA; that was an offer of support, not a guarantee of reassignment.

EA completed its acquisition of Respawn in 2017, and EA’s Titanfall franchise page lists Titanfall and Titanfall 2 as released games. Those titles are separate from the canceled early-stage project. The cancellation does not change their status as released games, and the sources do not say that either was canceled.
