Which Pokémon should you bring against Dynamax Suicune?
Only Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokémon can enter Max Battles. The official guide says a player needs at least one Dynamax Pokémon in the party for a Dynamax battle, and only eligible Max Pokémon can be used in battle. Check your roster and move levels before joining; a powerful species with an underdeveloped Max Move may not match a counter ranking that assumes level 3 moves.

This is a damage-oriented shortlist, not a universal team prescription. Pokémon GO Hub’s ordering measures damage during the Max phase, uses level 3 Max or Gigantamax move stats, assumes no lag and three consecutive Max attacks, and ranks damage output only. Its figures are simulations, not field-tested results or observed win rates. For example, its model lists Gigantamax Rillaboom at 467.68 Max Move damage and 11 estimated Max phases, and Gigantamax Toxtricity at 440.12 damage and 12 phases under those assumptions. Choose for the Max phase and the time between phases
A high Max-phase damage ranking does not measure everything your team must do. Outside the Max phase, your Pokémon needs to survive and help fill the meter; once the phase starts, an attacker can take advantage of its short damage window. Pokémon GO Hub describes a typical approach as opening with a tank or defender, then switching to an attacker for the Max phase. Treat that as a role-based tactic rather than a fixed lineup: use the Pokémon and move levels you actually have.
How to build the Max meter and use the three-turn phase
- Attack to charge. Tap to use Fast Attacks and build charged-attack energy; attacks also fill the Max meter. The official Max Battle overview describes the battle flow.
- Dodge targeted attacks. When Suicune targets a Pokémon, swipe to dodge. Watch the battle cues rather than leaving the Pokémon in the line of attack.
- Collect energy icons. Move to collect energy icons that appear in the arena; this helps fill the Max meter.
- Use the full meter deliberately. At a full meter, a Pokémon Dynamaxes for three turns. The attack’s type is based on the Dynamax Pokémon’s Fast Attack type. Use the attack to deal damage, Max Spirit to heal, or Max Guard to reduce damage from the boss.
Max Spirit’s official description is direct: “Max Spirit heals both the Pokémon that used it and their allies.” The Pokémon GO Help Center explains the roles and training of Max Moves in its What are Max Pokémon? guide. Choose healing or defense when keeping the team active is more useful than spending the phase entirely on attacks.

If your team faints
Against a three-star-or-higher Max Battle boss, a player whose Pokémon all faint can cheer. According to the official overview, cheering helps teammates fill their Max meters faster. Max Particles are spent on battle entry only when the group successfully defeats the boss.
Was the Dynamax Suicune event current?
No. The official announcement scheduled Dynamax Suicune Max Battle Weekend from Saturday, May 10, at 6 a.m. through Sunday, May 11, 2025, at 9 p.m. local time. That event window has passed. The announcement does not establish a future return, so check for a new official event notice before planning around another appearance.

The announcement also advertised a web-store Ultra Box for US$9.99 or the equivalent local pricing tier at the time. That was a historical offer, not evidence that the box is still available. The official event details are in the Dynamax Suicune Max Battle Weekend announcement.
