Elden Ring patch 1.15, released on 2 October 2024, fixed a range of bugs in Shadow of the Erdtree and the base game, and included unspecified performance improvements. It targeted PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Steam. Bandai Namco did not publish benchmark results or say how much performance changed on any platform, and patch 1.16 followed on 17 October 2024.
What does Elden Ring patch 1.15 fix?
Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe’s official patch notes, published 2 October 2024, list fixes for Shadow of the Erdtree areas and equipment, as well as enemy behavior, audio and the end credits.

- The entry cutscene for the Shadow Keep Church District no longer repeats when you re-enter the area.
- Some Golem Fist attacks now deal damage when specified special effects affect the player. The weapon’s one-handed heavy attack power was also corrected from below its expected level.
- Aspects of the Crucible: Thorns can be cast in quick succession as intended.
- Smithing Talisman effects now apply to the throwing attacks of some weapons.
- Ashes can be used in parts of the Scadutree Avatar arena where a bug had prevented it.
- Rellana, Twin Moon Knight’s behavior around objects in the battle area was corrected.
- A bug that allowed incorrect combinations of Skills and Weapons was fixed.
- Some enemy rendering and behavior issues, along with sound-effect playback issues, were addressed.
- The end credits received further fixes.
The notes also say: “Several performance improvements and other bug fixes.” They do not identify the additional fixes.
Did patch 1.15 improve performance?
The publisher says the patch includes performance improvements, but gives no frame-rate figures, benchmark conditions or before-and-after measurements. The notes therefore do not establish the size of any improvement, or that performance improved uniformly across platforms or PC configurations.

Bandai Namco also listed conditional troubleshooting suggestions for players experiencing unstable performance. These are possible remedies, not a diagnosis that applies to every player or a guarantee that a particular step will work.
On PS5
For an unstable frame rate, the publisher says using Rebuild Database from the console’s safe mode may improve it.

On PC
- Check ray tracing: On some PC configurations, ray tracing may have been enabled unintentionally. Check System > Graphics > Ray Tracing Quality from the title screen or in-game menu.
- Verify game files: If “Inappropriate activity detected” appears when you have not been cheating, verify the game files before restarting.
- Check mouse-control applications: Third-party software that controls mouse behavior may contribute to unstable frame rates. Disabling it may help.
Which platforms received patch 1.15?
The listed platforms were PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Steam. A Japanese official update notice dated 2 October 2024 corroborates the platform list and named fixes.
The patch notes say the title screen should display App Ver. 1.15 and Regulation Ver. 1.15. On PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, regulation files can be downloaded by logging in. The notes state that applying the update is required for online play.

Is patch 1.15 still the latest version?
No: it was followed by patch 1.16, which Bandai Namco published on 17 October 2024 for the same listed platforms. Version 1.16 fixed an issue where temporary player-stat boosts could persist after closing and restarting the game, among other fixes. The existence of that later update establishes that 1.15 is historical; these notes alone do not establish which version is available today.

Yes. Bandai Namco and FromSoftware’s joint product information identifies Shadow of the Erdtree as additional downloadable content, released 21 June 2024, and says the ELDEN RING base game is required. Players must also progress through the base game to a certain extent before starting the expansion. A base-game copy is relevant only if you do not already own it; the patch itself is not a separate retail product.
