For Irish buyers, the best-value EA SPORTS FC 27 deal currently appears to be the Nintendo Switch 2 physical edition at €59.99, compared with €79.99 for the Standard Edition on the Irish PlayStation and Xbox digital stores. That €20 difference is not a permanent platform price cut: it compares a promotional physical cartridge with two standard digital-store listings. Switch 2 also includes The Grounds mode and Clubs, but online play requires a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are the safer choices for buyers who want their existing console ecosystem and the display capabilities advertised by Xbox.
EA FC 27 launch and editions in Ireland
EA SPORTS FC 27 launched globally on 25 September 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. EA says the Standard Edition includes the full game and all core modes at launch. The comparison here concerns that Standard Edition, not an upgraded or time-limited special edition.

Nintendo of Europe lists more than 21,000 licensed players for the game. That figure describes the licensed player pool, not the number of people currently playing in Ireland.
Irish price comparison: where the €20 difference comes from
The following prices are 2026 Irish listings observed in October. They compare different sales channels, so the €20 gap should be treated as a snapshot rather than a permanent recommended-retail-price difference.
#1 Best Overall
| Platform | Edition and channel | Observed price | Price qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| PS5 | Standard Edition, PlayStation Store Ireland digital | €79.99 | Digital-store listing |
| Xbox Series X|S | Standard Edition, Xbox Ireland digital | €79.99 | Digital-store listing |
| Nintendo Switch 2 | Physical copy, Currys Ireland | €59.99 | Promotion; listed as reduced from €69.99 |
| Nintendo Switch 2 | Physical copy, Very Ireland | €59.99 | Promotion; regular price listed as €64 |
In other words, the observed saving is €20 against the €79.99 digital benchmark. A Switch 2 promotion can expire, sell out or move back toward its regular price, while digital-store pricing can also change. Check the final basket price, edition and stock before paying.
Which versions include The Grounds and Clubs?
EA’s platform qualification is decisive for buyers interested in the newer social and progression features. The Grounds mode, including Clubs, is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. It is not available on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.

The original Nintendo Switch version receives FC 27 but does not receive The Grounds or Clubs. A cheaper original-Switch purchase therefore is not equivalent to the Switch 2 version, even though both carry the FC 27 name.

What PS5 and Xbox Series X|S offer
PS5

Xbox Series X|S
Xbox Ireland lists the Standard Edition at €79.99. Its store metadata advertises 4K Ultra HD, HDR10, 60 fps+, cross-platform multiplayer and cross-platform co-op. These are capabilities stated on the store listing, not the result of an independent frame-rate or image-quality test; actual output can depend on the console, display, mode and settings.
Xbox is therefore the logical fit for buyers who want those listed display features and cross-platform play within an existing Xbox setup. The Grounds and Clubs are supported on both Series X and Series S.

What Switch 2 adds—and what it requires
Modes and portability
Switch 2 is the only option in this price comparison that combines a promotional physical price with Nintendo’s portable form factor. It supports The Grounds and Clubs, unlike the original Switch, so buyers do not have to give up those modes to play away from a television.
Local and online multiplayer
Nintendo lists local single-system play for one to four players, local wireless play for two players, and online play for two to 100 players. Online modes require a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership. The game itself and the membership are separate requirements, so include that recurring subscription when calculating the real cost of online play.
Best Value
- Standard Edition for PlayStation 5 (disc) includes the full EA SPORTS College Football 27 game.
- DYNASTY BLUEPRINT – Control your program’s future with recruiting, NIL, staff, facilities, and Athletic Director Expectations..
- ROAD TO GLORY – Build your player, explore new positions, earn NIL deals, chase the Heisman, and raise your Legacy Score.
- MASCOT MASHUP – Play as your favorite mascot, collect 120+ icons, and compete in wild 11-on-11 matchups full of school spirit.
How to choose the right Irish version
- Choose PS5 if your digital library, friends list and console accessories are on PlayStation, and you want The Grounds and Clubs without changing ecosystems.
- Choose Xbox Series X|S if you are invested in Xbox and value the store-listed 4K Ultra HD, HDR10, 60 fps+ and cross-platform multiplayer/co-op capabilities.
- Choose Switch 2 if portability, local multiplayer and the lower observed physical price matter most, and you accept the Nintendo Switch Online requirement for online modes.
- Avoid assuming the original Switch is equivalent if The Grounds or Clubs is essential; those features are restricted to the Switch 2 and current-generation versions listed by EA.
Buying checklist before checkout
- Confirm that the listing says Nintendo Switch 2, not Nintendo Switch, if you need The Grounds or Clubs.
- Check whether the price is physical or digital. The €59.99 figure is a promotional physical listing, while €79.99 is the observed digital price on PS5 and Xbox.
- Verify that the product is the Standard Edition and that the Irish store region is selected.
- For Switch 2 online play, confirm that the intended account has an active paid Nintendo Switch Online membership.
- Recheck stock, delivery charges and the final price because retailer promotions are not guaranteed to remain available.
Bottom line for Irish buyers
On the observed October 2026 listings, Switch 2 offers the lowest entry price at €59.99 and still supports The Grounds and Clubs. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S cost €20 more at the listed digital price but may be preferable for ecosystem continuity and, on Xbox’s listing, specified display and cross-platform capabilities. The €20 is a channel-and-promotion difference, not proof that FC 27 has a permanently cheaper Switch 2 MSRP.
