What happened on January 16, 2025?
The game’s online services shut down on that date, disabling online multiplayer features. “Shut down” should not be read as confirmation that all copies became unusable: the available reporting does not establish that offline play ended.
Does the shutdown affect PS4 and Xbox One copies differently?
The title is listed for both PS4 and Xbox One, but the available information does not specify different outcomes by platform. A physical copy does not bring EA’s online servers back, and current digital-store availability or the exact offline modes that remain usable on either platform have not been verified.

What does EA say about ending services?
EA’s U.S. PC User Agreement, last updated January 16, 2025, states: “If we decide to shut down a game or a service, we will tell you at least 30 days in advance.” This is general policy language; it does not establish the reason for this game’s closure or the specific notice process used for it. EA User Agreement.
The agreement also says EA cannot guarantee that games will keep functioning on newer or updated operating systems after online-service termination, and that games may no longer be available for download through application distribution services. That is a general warning, not a report on the present compatibility or availability of Rory McIlroy PGA Tour.
