For a role-based shortlist of EA Sports FC 24 Greats of the Game (GOTG) Team 2, start with Cristiano Ronaldo for attack, Zinedine Zidane for central creativity, and Ruud Gullit for midfield or forward flexibility. A third-party tier list places all three in its S tier; that is an editorial signal, not an EA ranking or a formation-specific gameplay test. Which card suits you depends on your squad and preferred role.
What GOTG Team 2 was
Greats of the Game was part of EA SPORTS FC 24’s Festival of Football promotion. EA described the event items as ICONs and Heroes whose upgrades were tied to goals scored by their nations during Euro 2024 and Copa América 2024. EA’s Festival of Football notes explain the upgrade concept; contemporaneous coverage dates Team 2’s release to June 28, 2024. Charlie INTEL’s Team 2 coverage

This is a historical promotion, so a card’s launch rating should not be mistaken for its final rating after any event upgrade.
Best GOTG Team 2 picks by role
The shortlist below uses reported launch ratings from GamesRadar’s card tracker and an editorial S-tier placement from Destructoid’s tier list. The role descriptions are a way to match each pick to a squad need, not claims from a controlled performance test.
#1 Best Overall
- Item no. 1159423
| Card | Reported launch rating | Shortlist role | Best fit if you want… |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cristiano Ronaldo | 97 | Attacker | A prominent attacking option. |
| Zinedine Zidane | 97 | Central attacking or midfield creator | A creative presence through the middle. |
| Ruud Gullit | 96 | Versatile midfielder or forward | Flexibility across midfield and forward roles. |
Cristiano Ronaldo: attacking option
Ronaldo is the clearest pick from this shortlist if the gap in your lineup is up front. His reported 97 is his launch rating, and Destructoid includes him in its S tier. That does not establish that he is the best choice in every formation; weigh him against the attackers already in your squad.
Zinedine Zidane: central creator
Zidane is the natural choice if you want a central attacking or midfield option. His reported launch rating is 97, and he is also in Destructoid’s S tier. The cited coverage does not provide a formation-specific performance test, so treat this as a role-based recommendation rather than a guaranteed tactical upgrade.

DLC content may not work unless using an EU Playstation account as stated this is an EU Import Region Free Version
Ruud Gullit: flexible midfield or forward choice
Gullit’s reported launch rating is 96. His appeal for this shortlist is positional flexibility across midfield and forward roles, alongside his S-tier placement in Destructoid’s editorial ranking. That versatility can matter when filling a lineup, but the available sources do not demonstrate a measured tactical advantage.
How to choose between them
- Need an attacker? Consider Ronaldo if your squad benefits more from an attacking option than another central player.
- Need creativity through the middle? Zidane is the role-focused choice.
- Need flexibility? Gullit is the shortlist’s midfield-or-forward option.
- Comparing value? These sources do not establish a consistent current market-price comparison or measured gameplay performance. Any coins-based value judgment needs a timestamped comparison for your platform’s market.
Launch ratings versus upgrades
GamesRadar reports launch ratings of 97 for Ronaldo, 97 for Zidane, and 96 for Gullit. These are not guaranteed final ratings: EA tied GOTG upgrades to national-team goals during the tournament, and the cited evidence does not verify the final upgrade state of every Team 2 card. Check a card-specific record before relying on a later rating.

What the rankings can—and cannot—tell you
Destructoid’s S-tier placements support treating Ronaldo, Zidane, and Gullit as strong picks, but the ranking is that publication’s opinion, not an official EA assessment. The cited sources do not establish win rates, usage rates, platform-specific prices, or independent formation-by-formation performance results. Use the shortlist to narrow by squad role and preference, not as a universal order of superiority.
