If FC 26 is crashing on PC, the right fix depends on where it fails: before the game opens, after the Javelin AntiCheat screen, at the menu, or during play. Start by noting the exact failure stage and any error message, then try the targeted, reversible steps below. EA’s guidance offers several diagnostic routes, not one fix confirmed to work for every PC.
First, identify when FC 26 crashes
Before changing settings, note what happens and when. This helps distinguish a game problem from an EA app or AntiCheat error.
- FC 26 crashes on startup: Does it close before a game window appears, or only after the AntiCheat screen?
- FC 26 closes after AntiCheat: Copy the exact Javelin error text and note any software or driver it names.
- FC 26 keeps freezing: Does the freeze happen at the menu or only during a match?
- FC 26 crashes to desktop: Note what you were doing immediately beforehand and whether an error appeared.
Also record which launcher you use, whether other games work, and your Windows version. These details can help narrow the cause; the available official guidance does not identify a single cause for every FC 26 crash.
Try low-risk checks before reinstalling
- Close background apps. Exit nonessential applications and retry FC 26. EA lists background apps as a possible source of crashing or freezing.
- Repair the game in the EA app. Open the EA app Library, open FC 26’s game menu, and choose Repair. EA recommends repairing files for games that will not load in its app. If your installation is through another launcher, use its available file-verification option.
- Try a Windows clean boot if the issue continues. EA recommends a clean boot to check whether background tasks are interfering. Follow Microsoft’s clean-boot instructions for your Windows version, then test the game; restore your normal startup configuration afterward.
- Reinstall only if simpler steps fail. EA’s general crash guidance includes reinstalling the game and EA app. This is more disruptive than repairing files, so keep it for later in the troubleshooting process.

If FC 26 freezes or crashes during play, test frame pacing
EA suggests capping the frame rate and/or enabling V-Sync to match frame rate with display refresh. Try one change at a time and see whether the symptom changes. EA does not specify a frame cap that suits every PC, so treat this as a test rather than a universal setting.
If the crash may involve the EA app overlay
Turn off the EA app in-game overlay and retry FC 26. EA notes that the overlay can sometimes make a game crash. If turning it off makes no difference, that result does not identify another cause; choose whether to leave the overlay disabled based on your preference.

If FC 26 closes after AntiCheat
Use the precise Javelin AntiCheat message to choose the next step. EA documents particular incompatibility and service errors, so a remedy for one message should not be assumed to apply to all startup crashes.
- A named program or driver appears: Check EA’s current AntiCheat guidance for that item. EA says some software versions may need updating; if the software itself is denylisted, EA says it must be disabled to launch.
- The message reports a service error: EA documents cases where relaunching the EA app as administrator and starting the game from the EA app may help, including for Steam or Epic installations. Reinstalling Javelin is another remedy listed for specific errors.
Follow the steps that match your displayed error in EA’s Javelin AntiCheat installation and troubleshooting guide. Do not disable security protections broadly or remove drivers unless EA’s guidance for the specific error calls for a targeted action.

If the EA app reports an error
An EA app service, installation, or runtime error is a separate branch from a crash with no app error. Check EA app service status and connection troubleshooting through EA’s error-code and launch-issue guide. For an unresolved error, EA points users to EA Error Reporter.
Install Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables only when the error guidance identifies a relevant installer problem or missing runtime. They are not established as a blanket fix for FC 26 crashes.

When the crash remains unresolved
Keep the exact error text or code, failure stage, launcher, and the changes you have already tried. Use the relevant EA troubleshooting page above or the EA SPORTS FC 26 support hub to find current support options. If the game still closes without an error, those recorded details make the next support request more specific.
