1. Restart Windows completely

A full restart can clear a stuck service state, release files locked by another process, and finish applying a Windows, launcher, or game update. After Windows starts again, open the game normally through its launcher.
2. Use the launcher that installed the game
Start the game from the platform where it was installed or purchased. Depending on the title, that may be Epic Games Launcher, Steam, or another publisher-supported launcher.

4. Verify the game files
After repairing EAC, run the launcher’s built-in file verification process. This is different from repairing EAC itself:
- Epic Games Launcher: open your Library, select the game’s three-dot menu, choose Manage, and select Verify if available.
- Steam: open the game’s Properties, select Installed Files, and choose Verify integrity of game files.

Reinstalling Visual C++ is a dependency check, not a guaranteed fix for this exact error. Avoid third-party download mirrors and generic DLL-download sites.
6. Check whether EAC connectivity is blocked
Easy Anti-Cheat may need to contact its service endpoints during startup. Epic’s troubleshooting guidance recommends testing the EAC content endpoints and checking for a successful HTTP response. If the endpoint cannot be reached, the failure may involve a firewall, security product, router, DNS configuration, or network provider.
Check the following:
- Confirm that ordinary websites and the game launcher can connect normally.
- Restart the router and test again if the problem affects only one network.
- Check firewall exceptions for the game and the EAC component.

8. Use a clean boot to find background-software conflicts
If EAC repair, file verification, updates, and system-file checks do not help, perform a Windows clean-boot test. Microsoft describes a clean boot as starting Windows with only essential drivers and startup programs. It is a diagnostic procedure for finding software conflicts; it is not a recommendation to leave security tools disabled permanently.
