Start with this diagnostic checklist
Before changing Windows files, confirm:
- Does the error appear when launching Adobe Premiere Pro
- Did it begin after a Premiere update, rollback, reinstall, cleanup, antivirus action, disk problem, or PC migration
- Is
eaclient.dllmissing from the Premiere installation folder - Does the message say the file is missing, or that a dependent module could not be found
- Is the installed Premiere release 32-bit or 64-bit
- Does the error show the full path to the file

eaclient.dll is associated with Adobe Premiere Pro, not Windows. The safest fix is to repair or reinstall the exact Premiere installation that owns the file rather than copying a DLL into C:Windows.
What eaclient.dll is and where it belongs
EAClient.dll is an application-private Adobe component found in Adobe Premiere Pro installation directories. Adobe crash reports show it beside Premiere’s executable and other Adobe files, including in a Premiere Pro 2020 folder.
Public file metadata also reports a 64-bit EAClient.dll, version 9.0.1.36, approximately 6.61 MB, associated with Premiere Pro CC 2015.0. That information comes from a third-party file index, not an Adobe-published binary manifest, so it should not be used as a universal replacement specification.
The exact file version, architecture, and location depend on the Premiere release. Do not assume that a file from Premiere Pro CC 2015 belongs in Premiere Pro 2020 or another installation.

Normally, the file should be inside a path similar to:
C:Program FilesAdobeAdobe Premiere Pro <version>EAClient.dll
The folder name varies by release and installation choices. It should not normally be placed in:
C:WindowsSystem32
C:WindowsSysWOW64
System32 and SysWOW64 contain Windows or shared system components. They are not general-purpose storage locations for application DLLs.
Recognize the exact error
Windows may display variants such as:
The program can't start because eaclient.dll is missing from your computer.
The code execution cannot proceed because eaclient.dll was not found.
There was a problem starting eaclient.dll. The specified module could not be found.
Error loading eaclient.dll. The specified module could not be found.
eaclient.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.
The file 'eaclient.dll' could not be loaded or is corrupt.
These are commonly reported Windows loader variants, not a single confirmed Adobe error message.

- Missing or not found usually means the file was deleted, quarantined, or never installed correctly.
- Corrupt or not designed to run on Windows points to a damaged file, wrong architecture, or mixed Premiere files.
- Specified module could not be found can mean
EAClient.dllexists but another DLL it requires is missing.
Fix 1: Repair Premiere through Creative Cloud
This is the most likely solution when Premiere alone fails or EAClient.dll is absent from the Premiere folder.
Reinstall the current Premiere release
- Save your Premiere projects and back up custom presets, templates, plugins, and preferences.
- Open the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop app.
- Select Apps.
- Find Premiere in the installed-app list.
- Open the three-dot menu beside Premiere.
- Choose Uninstall.
- Keep or remove preferences according to your troubleshooting needs. If an update left mixed settings behind, removing preferences can help, but preserve custom settings first.
- Restart Windows.
- Open Creative Cloud again.
- Select Install beside Premiere.
After installation, start Premiere from the Creative Cloud app or Start menu. A successful repair normally restores EAClient.dll to the same Premiere directory as the executable.
Install an available previous version
If the problem began after an update, the current release may not match an older plugin, project, or remaining Adobe file.
- Open Creative Cloud and select Apps.
- Find the Premiere tile.
- Select its three-dot menu.
- Choose Other versions.
- Select Install beside the required available release.
- Launch that release after installation.
Adobe does not necessarily keep every old Premiere version available. Subscription users generally receive the latest and previous major versions, while releases more than three major versions behind may be unavailable and unsupported. Do not expect Creative Cloud to provide Premiere Pro CC 2015 in every account.

Do not copy EAClient.dll from another Premiere installation. A file from a different release can create a mixed-version installation and cause a new startup failure.
Fix 2: Check Windows Security quarantine
Antivirus software can remove or quarantine an application file after an update or scan.
- Open Start and search for Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review recent actions involving Adobe, Premiere, or
EAClient.dll. - Expand the detection to view its path and details.
- Restore the file only if the Premiere installation is legitimate and the file was installed by Adobe.
- If available, choose the option to allow the file on the device.
- Reinstall Premiere afterward if the restored file is damaged or the application still fails.
Microsoft warns that restoring a genuine threat can expose the computer. If the file was found in an unexpected folder, arrived from an unofficial installer, or was associated with suspicious software, do not restore it. Remove the suspicious installation and reinstall Premiere from Creative Cloud.
If the file disappears again immediately after reinstalling, review Protection history before repeatedly replacing it. A security product may be removing it for a reason.
Fix 3: Repair the Visual C++ dependency
A missing dependency can produce “The specified module could not be found” even when EAClient.dll is visibly present.
A public dependency listing associates the reported Premiere Pro CC 2015 file with MSVCP120.dll and MSVCR120.dll, which belong to the Visual C++ 2013 runtime. This relationship is not confirmed by an Adobe dependency manifest, so treat it as a secondary check rather than the primary fix.
Use Microsoft’s official Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable download:
- Download the Visual C++ 2013 redistributable package.
- On 64-bit Windows, install the package matching the Premiere process. Installing both
vcredist_x86.exeandvcredist_x64.execan be appropriate when both 32-bit and 64-bit applications are installed. - Right-click each installer and select Run as administrator.
- Choose Repair if that option appears. Otherwise, complete the installation.
- Restart Windows.
- Launch Premiere again.
Do not download individual MSVCP120.dll or MSVCR120.dll files. Install the complete Microsoft runtime package so its files and registration are handled together.

If reinstalling the runtime changes nothing and the error identifies only Premiere, return to the Adobe repair path. The Visual C++ package does not replace Adobe’s own DLL.
Fix 4: Confirm architecture and installation path
A 64-bit DLL cannot satisfy a 32-bit process, and a 32-bit DLL cannot satisfy a 64-bit process.
Check the path shown in the error and compare it with the installed Premiere folder:
- Open File Explorer.
- Browse to the Adobe Premiere installation directory.
- Look for
EAClient.dllbeside the Premiere executable and other Adobe DLLs. - Right-click the file and select Properties.
- Review the Details tab for available file information.
- Do not use a file from another Adobe product or Premiere release as a substitute.
If the error points to an old folder that no longer exists, remove the stale shortcut or reinstall the release that the shortcut expects. If the file is present in one Premiere folder but Windows reports a different path, the shortcut, plugin, or Adobe installation may be pointing to the wrong release.

There is no Windows Feature that restores this Adobe application file. Enabling optional Windows components is not a substitute for reinstalling Premiere.
Fix 5: Check for mixed or incomplete Adobe files
An interrupted update or rollback can leave the executable from one release beside DLLs from another.
This is likely when:
- Premiere worked before an update
- the file exists but is reported as corrupt
- several Adobe DLLs have different timestamps or release folders
- reinstalling only one file temporarily changes the error
Use a clean, same-version reinstall:
- Back up projects, plugins, presets, and preferences.
- Uninstall Premiere from Creative Cloud.
- Restart Windows.
- Confirm that the old Premiere installation folder is no longer being used by a shortcut.
- Install one available Premiere release through Creative Cloud.
- Test Premiere before restoring third-party plugins.
If Premiere starts without plugins but fails after they are restored, the crash may involve a plugin, GPU driver, preferences, or another Adobe module. In that situation, EAClient.dll may only appear in a crash stack and may not be the actual cause.
Fix 6: Repair Windows components only when other apps also fail
SFC and DISM repair Windows components and protected system files. They do not normally recreate a missing third-party Adobe DLL, so use them when unrelated programs also report damaged or missing system files.

Open an elevated Command Prompt:
- Open Start.
- Search for
Command Prompt. - Right-click it and select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
- Wait for it to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Test Premiere.
Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC. If both commands report that they repaired files, test Premiere again. If they report no integrity violations but Premiere still cannot load, repair Premiere rather than repeating the commands.

Updating a graphics driver will not normally restore EAClient.dll. It becomes relevant when Premiere crashes after loading, when the error appears only during GPU initialization, or when Adobe crash logs point to graphics components.
Use Device Manager:
- Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click the graphics adapter.
- Select Properties and open the Driver tab.
- Note the provider and driver date.
- Obtain the correct driver from the graphics hardware manufacturer or Windows Update.
- Install it and restart Windows.
Do not use Device Manager to replace the Adobe DLL. If the driver is current and Premiere still reports EAClient.dll as missing, return to Creative Cloud repair.

Why regsvr32 is usually wrong
regsvr32 is not a general DLL repair command. It is intended for DLLs that implement COM self-registration through DllRegisterServer, as documented by Microsoft.
There is no verified evidence that EAClient.dll is a self-registering COM server. Running commands such as:
regsvr32 eaclient.dll
usually will not repair Premiere and can produce another error. Restore the file through the Adobe installer instead.

When to use System Restore
Use System Restore only when:
- Premiere worked before a recent system change
- a suitable restore point exists
- reinstalling Premiere is not practical or did not resolve the issue
To check:
- Press Windows + R.
- Type
rstrui.exe. - Press Enter.
- Select Next.
- Choose a restore point from before the failure.
- Select Scan for affected programs.
- Continue only after reviewing the changes.
System Restore is not guaranteed to restore an Adobe application file. If the problem followed disk corruption or accidental deletion, reinstall Premiere from a trusted Adobe source afterward.

- The Premiere version
- The Windows 10 or Windows 11 version
- The full path shown in the error
- Whether
EAClient.dllexists in that folder - Whether the issue began after an update, reinstall, antivirus action, or migration
- Whether Visual C++ 2013 repair changed the message
- Whether Premiere crashes or displays a loader error
- Adobe crash logs, if available
If the file exists and the message continues, use a dependency-analysis tool or Adobe logs to identify the missing dependent module. Copying additional DLLs into the Premiere folder can make diagnosis harder.

Is eaclient.dll a Windows file?
No. Available evidence associates it with Adobe Premiere Pro installation folders, not System32 or SysWOW64.

The missing item may be a dependency required by EAClient.dll. Visual C++ 2013 is a reasonable secondary check for the reported older file, but the dependency relationship is not confirmed by Adobe documentation.
Can I put the file in System32?
