easyanticheat_x64.dll is a 64-bit Easy Anti-Cheat game file, so the safest fix is to repair the game that installed it rather than download a replacement. If Windows says the file is missing, not found, corrupted, or could not be loaded, identify the affected game first, then restore its own Easy Anti-Cheat files through the game launcher.
What this file actually does
easyanticheat_x64.dll is a 64-bit client library used by Easy Anti-Cheat, an anti-cheat system supplied with individual Windows games. It is not part of Windows, and it normally belongs inside the affected game’s installation directory.

The exact location varies by game. Some newer games use the Epic Online Services version of Easy Anti-Cheat and may include an installer named EasyAntiCheat_EOS_Setup.exe.
Each supported game generally installs its own EAC copy. That means two games can contain different builds of the file. A DLL copied from another game may have the wrong version, architecture, certificates, or authentication relationship.

Do not place this file in C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64. Do not download an isolated copy from a random DLL website. Such files may contain malware, may be the wrong 32-bit or 64-bit build, and usually do not repair the damaged game installation that caused the error.

Fix 1: Verify or repair the affected game
This is the most likely solution because the DLL is supplied by the game installation.
Before repairing anything, note the title shown in the error message or identify which game you started immediately before the error appeared. If several games use Easy Anti-Cheat, repair only the game that fails first.
Epic Games
- Open the Epic Games Launcher.
- Select Library.
- Find the affected game.
- Select the three dots beside the game.
- Choose Manage.
- Select Verify.
- Wait for the scan and replacement process to finish.
- Restart the launcher and start the game again.
Steam
- Open Steam.
- Select Library.
- Right-click the affected game and choose Properties.
- Select Installed Files.
- Choose Verify integrity of game files.
- Wait until Steam completes the check.
- Restart Steam, then launch the game.
EA app
- Open the EA app.
- Select Library.
- Select the affected game.
- Open its menu.
- Choose Repair.
- Wait for the process to finish before starting the game.
Ubisoft Connect
- Open Ubisoft Connect.
- Select Games.
- Select the affected title.
- Open Properties.
- Choose Verify files or Verify files under the local-files section.
- Allow Ubisoft Connect to download any missing files.
Other launchers use similar commands named Verify, Repair, Scan and repair, or Validate files. Use the launcher that installed the game. After verification, the launcher should restore the correct EAC DLL, supporting files, and game-specific setup.

If verification reports no problem but the error remains, close the launcher completely, restart Windows, and run verification again. An interrupted update can leave the launcher and game using different file paths.
Fix 2: Repair Easy Anti-Cheat from the game folder
Many games include an EAC setup program in their own installation directory.
- Open the game launcher.
- Open the affected game’s installation folder. In Steam, right-click the game, choose Manage, then Browse local files.
- Look for a folder named
EasyAntiCheat, often underBinariesWin64. - Look for an EAC setup executable, such as
EasyAntiCheat_EOS_Setup.exe, or the setup tool supplied by that game. - Right-click the setup tool and choose Run as administrator.
- Select the affected game if the tool presents a list.
- Choose Repair Service.
- Restart Windows and test the game.
The executable name, folder and available commands differ between games. Do not substitute an installation command from another title.

Some games provide a repair executable that must be run with a repair argument. Epic documents a Fortnite-specific method in which you create a shortcut to the bundled EAC executable, add repair to the shortcut’s Target field, and run the shortcut. That command is not universal.

Fix 3: Check Windows Security quarantine
Windows Security or another antivirus product may have removed or blocked the file.
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review recent detections related to the affected game’s installation or Easy Anti-Cheat.
- Confirm that the file came from the legitimate game installation and launcher.
- If it is clearly the legitimate file, use the available Restore or Allow on device action.
- Immediately run the game’s launcher verification again.
Do not blindly disable antivirus protection or allow a file merely because its name is correct. A suspicious file outside the game’s installation directory should be scanned and investigated, not whitelisted.
If the file is quarantined again after verification, check the antivirus vendor’s log and contact the game publisher. The publisher may need to update the game’s packaged EAC files.
Fix 4: Install the required Visual C++ runtime
A missing runtime can prevent a valid EAC library or the game executable from loading. Reinstalling Visual C++ does not recreate easyanticheat_x64.dll, but it can repair a dependency failure.

- Download the x64 installer.
- Run it.
- Choose Repair if that option appears, or complete the installation.
- If the affected game is 32-bit, also install the x86 package.
- Restart Windows.
- Verify the game files again and test it.
A 32-bit game can require the x86 runtime even on 64-bit Windows. Do not assume that installing only x64 is sufficient.
Fix 5: Install Windows updates
Windows updates can repair compatibility problems involving system components, servicing files, and security features.
- Open Settings.
- Select Windows Update.
- Choose Check for updates.
- Select Download and install for available updates.
- Restart Windows, including when no restart is immediately requested.
- Start the game again.
If the problem began immediately after a game patch, also check for another game update. A patch can temporarily leave the launcher looking in the wrong directory or fail to copy a game-specific EAC file.
Fix 6: Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC
Use these commands when several unrelated applications are failing, Windows reports damaged system files, or the Visual C++ installation also behaves incorrectly. These commands repair Windows components and protected Windows files; they generally do not recreate a game-owned EAC DLL.
- Open Start.
- Type
Command Prompt. - Right-click Command Prompt.
- Choose Run as administrator.
- Select Yes at the User Account Control prompt.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for DISM to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Wait until verification reaches 100 percent.
- Restart Windows.
- Verify the affected game again.
Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC. If SFC reports that it could not repair some files, restart and run the two commands once more. If only one game is affected, return to the game’s launcher repair rather than repeatedly running system commands.

Fix 7: Check architecture and avoid manual DLL replacement
The _x64 suffix indicates a 64-bit build. Some games also include EasyAntiCheat_x86.dll for 32-bit components.
Do not rename the x86 file to x64, and do not copy a DLL from another game. Even when the filenames match, the files can differ by game, EAC generation, patch level, or authentication data.

The safe method is:
- Open the game’s launcher.
- Run its Verify, Repair, or Validate function.
- Repair the bundled EAC service.
- Restart Windows.
- Test the game again.
A publisher may sometimes provide a temporary workaround for a game-specific pathing bug, such as copying a file from an EAC subfolder to the game root. Use that only when the publisher explicitly gives the instruction for that exact title, and verify the game afterward.

A normal missing-DLL message does not usually require a driver reinstall. However, an untrusted system file message can involve a graphics driver, overlay, injector, RGB utility, VPN filter, or other software loaded alongside the game.
First close or temporarily uninstall nonessential overlays and background utilities, including game overlays, trainers, debuggers, recording tools, RGB control software, and hardware monitoring tools. If the error began after a graphics-driver update, use the graphics manufacturer’s official installer to update or roll back that driver.
You can also inspect Device Manager:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click the graphics adapter.
- Choose Update driver.
- Select Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows.
Do not uninstall a device merely because easyanticheat_x64.dll is missing. Device Manager cannot restore a game-owned EAC library.

Why regsvr32 is normally the wrong fix
Do not run:
regsvr32 easyanticheat_x64.dll
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that expose registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer, typically COM components. Easy Anti-Cheat’s game client library is not documented as a COM component. Running the command can produce an entry-point error and does not restore the game’s EAC service.

If repair succeeds but authentication still fails
If the DLL is present and the game still reports authentication, an untrusted file, or that the anti-cheat client is not running:
- Restart Windows.
- Close overlays, trainers, debuggers, injectors, RGB utilities, VPN filters, and security tools that inspect game traffic.
- Run the game’s EAC repair tool as administrator.
- Verify the game again.
- Check that the game is launching from the expected installation directory.
- Test with a new Windows user profile if only one account fails.
- Check the launcher and EAC logs.
An “untrusted system file” message may refer to another DLL or driver rather than easyanticheat_x64.dll. If all repairs fail, contact the game’s publisher. Include the exact error, game title, launcher, Windows version, installation path, EAC logs, and launcher logs. The game publisher controls the packaged EAC build and its supported repair procedure.

Can I download easyanticheat_x64.dll by itself?
No. Restore it through the launcher that installed the game. An isolated download can be malicious, mismatched, or the wrong architecture.
Should I copy it to System32?
