A&R Atelier announced Ecco the Dolphin: Complete on April 22, 2026: a package that brings together versions of the first two games and a brand-new contemporary Ecco game. The announcement does not give a release date, platforms, price, or physical-edition details, so those remain unconfirmed.
What is Ecco the Dolphin: Complete?
A&R Atelier describes Ecco the Dolphin: Complete as a collection spanning the series’ 8-bit Master System and 16-bit Genesis/Mega Drive eras, alongside a new contemporary game. It says the package includes all versions of Ecco the Dolphin and Ecco: The Tides of Time, but the announcement does not enumerate the individual ports.

The collection is more than a straight rerelease, at least in its announced feature set. A&R Atelier lists built-in speedrunning support, achievements, leaderboards, meta quests spanning the original games and the new title, and custom courses assembled from levels across the franchise. These are announced features; the studio has not yet provided platform-specific implementation details.
Who is making the new Ecco game?
A&R Atelier announced in January 2026 that Ecco was officially in development. The California-based studio says it was founded by veteran developers, including creators of the original games. In its April announcement, it said original team members are reunited for Ecco the Dolphin: Complete, including Ed Annunziata and members of the original composition, art, and programming teams. A&R Atelier also says the titles are being developed in partnership with SEGA.

Annunziata, A&R Atelier’s chief creative officer, said in the January 14 announcement: “It has been years in the making and we’re honored to bring Ecco back.” He also described Ecco as “a bridge between worlds.”
When does the new Ecco the Dolphin come out?
No release date or release window was included in A&R Atelier’s April 22, 2026 announcement. It also did not state the platforms, price, preorder timing, or whether a physical edition is planned. Do not treat a particular console, launch year, or retail format as confirmed until A&R Atelier or SEGA announces it.
Where to follow official updates
The official Ecco the Dolphin website says it is run and monitored by the Ecco team and that official information will be communicated there first. A&R Atelier’s January development announcement and April announcement of Ecco the Dolphin: Complete establish the project and package details currently announced.

The original Ecco the Dolphin first released for Sega Genesis in 1992, according to A&R Atelier. The studio characterizes the series as an underwater adventure associated with Metroidvania mechanics, its soundtrack, and environmental themes. The new package pairs that legacy with a contemporary game, but details about the new game’s story, gameplay, and how it connects to the older titles have not been specified in the announcement.
