Echo Generation 2 has already launched: Steam lists its release date as May 27, 2026, and developer Cococucumber currently lists the game on Steam and Xbox services. The sequel turns the original’s sci-fi world into a deckbuilding RPG with six playable heroes, tactical turn-based combat and a story that moves beyond Earth.
When did Echo Generation 2 come out?
Echo Generation 2 was released on May 27, 2026, according to its Steam listing. Cococucumber’s current product page also describes the game as available now. The studio first revealed the sequel on November 20, 2025, with plans for a 2026 release; that announcement is now historical, not an indication that the game is still upcoming.
What platforms is Echo Generation 2 on?
Cococucumber lists Echo Generation 2 for Steam, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming and Xbox Game Pass. Steam identifies it as a single-player game and lists Windows system requirements and 12 interface and subtitle languages. Availability can vary by service and region, so check the live Steam or Xbox listing for the access route offered where you play.
Buying the game and accessing it through Game Pass are different arrangements: a subscription grants access under the service’s terms, while a purchase is a separate storefront transaction. Store prices and discounts vary by region and change over time; consult the current regional listing for the price rather than relying on an older figure.

What kind of game is Echo Generation 2?
Cococucumber describes the sequel as a sci-fi deckbuilding RPG. Its combat is turn-based, with strategic stances alongside card-based abilities. The developer’s current product page lists more than 150 cards and six playable heroes, each with distinct abilities, decks and playstyles. Skill trees and badges provide additional ways to customize characters.
The premise follows Jack, whose family vacation leads into a mystery involving hidden experiments and impossible realities, according to Steam. Cococucumber’s 2025 reveal framed the adventure as a journey into a new dimension and across the universe, within the world established by the first Echo Generation. The sequel also tells its story from multiple perspectives.

What carries over from the original?
The sequel shares the original game’s world, but it is a distinct adventure built around a larger cast and deckbuilding-focused combat. Cococucumber’s current page describes a retro 3D pixel-and-voxel aesthetic and a synth-driven score by Pusher. The studio calls the original Echo Generation award-winning and names Best Indie Game, Best Narrative and Best Soundtrack; its page does not identify the awarding organizations or years, and those claims refer to the original, not the sequel.

The clearest reason to consider it is its specific combination of sci-fi storytelling, turn-based battles and deck customization. Players who enjoy building a party and adapting card-based tactics may find the six-hero structure appealing; those looking for a real-time action game should note that combat is turn-based.
