Konami made eFootball PES 2020 Mobile globally available for iOS and Android on October 31, 2019, as a free-to-download update—not as a separate paid mobile game. October 24 was the start of early access, which explains the two dates often associated with its release. The catch is that “free to download” does not mean every in-game feature or item was free.
When did PES 2020 Mobile come out?
Konami’s U.S. announcement said early access began on October 24, 2019, and named October 31 as the official App Store and Google Play availability date. A European announcement on October 31 described the update as globally available on iOS and Android. These dates refer to different stages of the rollout, not conflicting launch claims. Was it a new game or an update?
Konami presented PES 2020 Mobile as a major update to its mobile title, rather than a standalone paid release. It was announced as free to download, but that wording does not establish that all of the game’s content or in-game items were free. The announcement describes download terms, not the cost of every feature or item.
What did the mobile update include?
At launch, Konami promoted local and online multiplayer, a Finesse Dribble technique developed in collaboration with Andrés Iniesta, and partnerships with Manchester United, FC Bayern, FC Barcelona and Juventus. The publisher also named Serie A TIM and Serie BKT licenses and said the mobile game used Unreal Engine 4. These are Konami’s launch-era descriptions, not independent assessments of performance or gameplay quality. The European announcement contains the feature details.

Konami’s Jonas Lygaard, then Senior Director Brand & Business Development at Konami Digital Entertainment B.V., described the mobile version this way: “We were keen that the mobile version didn’t just feel like a rehash of the console game, but rather a full, immersive game in its own right – we really feel like we’ve achieved that goal.” The U.S. announcement attributes the quote to Lygaard.
What happened after PES 2020 Mobile?
In October 2020, Konami announced eFootball PES 2021 Mobile as a free worldwide update for iOS and Android, following the 2020 season’s mobile update. The announcement describes another season update, not a separate paid mobile product. Konami’s PES 2021 Mobile announcement gives the follow-up context.

Konami’s current App Store listing is named eFootball; that listing alone does not establish whether a separate PES 2020 edition can still be downloaded today. The App Store listing is not evidence of continued standalone availability for the historic edition.
