Kogen, Yuthus, and Zabi join automatically when the story reaches the point where you establish the Alliance army at Castle Ruins. You do not need to complete a separate recruitment quest for any of them.
When Kogen, Yuthus, and Zabi join
All three are story recruits associated with Castle Ruins. The Official Eiyuden Chronicle Wiki’s spoiler recruitment guide lists Kogen, Yuthus, and Zabi at this location and gives the same trigger for each: establishing the Alliance army. A separate recruitment table likewise places them in its “Once You Have The Castle” section and marks them as automatic recruits.
What to do if they have not joined
- Continue the main story until you establish the Alliance army at Castle Ruins.
- Check your roster after reaching that milestone. The recruitment guides describe all three as automatic; they do not list character-specific fetch quests for them.
If you have not reached the Alliance army milestone, keep progressing the story. The available guides do not establish unusual save-state or version-specific exceptions, so this advice is limited to ordinary story progression.
Are Kogen, Yuthus, and Zabi missable?
The recruitment references reviewed present them as automatic story recruits, not optional side-quest recruits. They do not identify a missable requirement separate from reaching the Alliance army milestone.

By dint of sword, and by way of magical objects known as “rune-lenses,” the land’s history has been shaped by the alliances and aggressions of the humans, beastmen, elves, and desert people who live there.
- Now, the Empire is scouring the continent for an artifact that will expand their power even further. It is on one such expedition that Seign Kesling, a young and gifted imperial officer, and Nowa, a boy from a remote village, meet each other and become friends.
