Bandit’s Curved Sword is the strongest all-round pick for many builds that want an infusable curved sword, while Wing of Astel, Beastman’s Curved Sword, and other entries can be better fits for particular stats or playstyles. This is an editorial ranking, not an official in-game tier list: it weighs build fit, distinctive attacks, versatility, reach, status potential, and acquisition effort. It includes Shadow of the Erdtree weapons and considers both single-wield and power-stanced use. Weapon values and mechanics below come from community-maintained references, not controlled testing of a current patch.
How curved swords work—and what matters when choosing one
Curved swords favor quick slashing attacks over high damage from each individual hit, and their movesets include feints. Charged heavy attacks hit twice; while charging one, dodging cancels it into a weak attack followed by a backward flip. One- and two-handed movesets are similar. Eldenpedia’s curved-sword reference describes the class and its attacks.

Power-stancing is a major reason to use the class: dual-wield running and jumping attacks each strike four times. Those repeated hits can work well with multi-hit damage effects and status buildup such as Blood Loss, but the result depends on your build and the enemy. For a single-wield setup, reach, heavy-attack properties, and weapon skills may matter more than the dual-wield moveset.
Base attack values are not a like-for-like damage ranking. For example, the class table lists Bandit’s Curved Sword at 118 physical attack, Beastman’s Curved Sword at 113 physical, Magma Blade at 96 physical plus 62 fire, and Wing of Astel at 65 physical plus 78 magic. These are listed base values—not max-upgrade ratings or controlled damage tests—and the weapons differ in requirements, scaling, upgrade paths, and damage type. The class comparison table is useful for checking those distinctions.

#1 Best Overall
- Collaborating with George R.R. Martin to create the ELDEN RING mythos has been a genuinely delightful experience and a source of wonderful inspiration. The team is working hard to ensure that the world of ELDEN RING will be a fascinating place for players to explore, filled with peril and wonder from its furthest reaches to its lowest depths. This is a FromSoftware title through and through, rich in fantasy and RPG action. We sincerely hope you look forward to it.
- Building the world of ELDEN RING with Miyazaki-san and his team was a treat! The graphics, mythos, and action-RPG gameplay will deliver an unforgettable experience. I can’t wait for people to see what ELDEN RING has in store for them.” Said George R.R. Martin.
The 10 best curved swords in Elden Ring
1. Bandit’s Curved Sword — best infusable all-rounder
Bandit’s Curved Sword is the top pick for a flexible build because the reference describes it as generally the strongest infusable curved sword and the longest curved sword in the base game. Its listed base attack is 118 physical, with requirements of 11 Strength and 13 Dexterity. Its value is that you can tailor an infusable weapon to your chosen build; the base figure alone does not establish that it will deal the most damage with every affinity or stat spread. Eldenpedia’s Bandit’s Curved Sword entry provides weapon details.
It can drop from skeletons. The reference gives examples near the Church of Pilgrimage at the north end of Weeping Peninsula and east of Hermit Merchant’s Shack in the Capital Outskirts. Check the weapon entry for its acquisition details.
2. Wing of Astel — best for Intelligence builds
Wing of Astel adds magic projectiles to heavy attacks, giving an Intelligence-oriented character an option beyond ordinary close-range slashes. The reference lists 65 physical and 78 magic base attack, and requirements of 7 Strength, 17 Dexterity, and 20 Intelligence. Split damage and the Intelligence requirement make it a poor candidate for judging by physical attack alone; its appeal depends on your build and whether you use its heavy attacks and skill. See the Wing of Astel reference entry.

3. Beastman’s Curved Sword — best for repeated-hit jumping attacks
Beastman’s Curved Sword stands out because its jumping light and heavy attacks can hit multiple times. That makes it a natural choice to consider for players who build around jumping attacks or repeated-hit effects. The class table lists 113 physical base attack and requirements of 13 Strength and 11 Dexterity. It is a Strength-leaning option, not a universal winner: its appeal is strongest when the build and attack pattern make use of its multi-hit property. The class reference lists its attack and requirement values.

4. Magma Blade — best for a Faith-oriented fire setup
Magma Blade combines physical and fire damage and has a Faith requirement, making it a distinctive choice for a build that can support those demands. Its listed base attack is 96 physical plus 62 fire; requirements are 9 Strength, 15 Dexterity, and 16 Faith. Because it deals split damage, comparing its physical number directly with an infusable physical sword is misleading. See the curved-sword comparison table for its listed values.
5. Mantis Blade — best when heavy-attack reach helps
Mantis Blade extends during heavy attacks, adding reach to a weapon whose usual attacks are close-range slashes. That extra distance is a situational advantage, not proof of higher standard damage: it is most useful when the extended attack helps you connect from farther away. Eldenpedia’s class reference describes the extended heavy attack.
6. Falx — best paired weapon from the DLC
Falx is a paired weapon with its own dual-wield moveset, so it offers a different feel from taking two separate curved swords into combat. It is part of the Shadow of the Erdtree roster; this ranking includes DLC weapons rather than limiting itself to the base game. Its paired moveset is the reason to consider it here, not a claim that it outperforms every power-stanced combination. The class roster includes Falx and identifies its paired-weapon moveset.
7. Shamshir — best for forward-moving light attacks
Shamshir’s light attacks move the user forward smoothly, helping close distance as you slash. That movement can offer practical reach in ordinary attacks without relying on a special heavy-attack extension. Choose it for how its light-attack motion suits your spacing; community comparisons are not controlled performance tests. Eldenpedia’s class reference notes the forward-moving light attacks.
8. Scavenger’s Curved Sword — a flexible option to compare for your build
Scavenger’s Curved Sword belongs on a shortlist for players comparing curved swords for their own build, and it appears in community comparison discussions. The available references do not establish a specific upgrade-path or build advantage that would justify ranking it higher as a universal choice. Check its requirements and available setup against your character rather than relying on its popularity alone. The class reference lists it among the roster.

9. Nox Flowing Sword — best for pressuring guarded enemies
As a shotel, Nox Flowing Sword bypasses part of an opponent’s guarded damage negation. Its flowing-form skill also gives it a distinctive identity. This is a niche advantage for guard pressure, not a general damage ranking: its usefulness depends on whether you face guarded opponents and want that weapon skill. The class reference describes the guard interaction and lists the weapon’s skill.
10. Serpent-God’s Curved Sword — a build-specific alternative
Serpent-God’s Curved Sword rounds out this ranking as another weapon to compare against your build’s requirements and preferred moveset. The available class reference establishes it as part of the curved-sword roster but does not establish a specific healing effect or acquisition route, so neither is a basis for this placement. See the class roster.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Pick for your build, not the largest base number
- Want an infusable generalist: Start with Bandit’s Curved Sword and compare the result under the affinity and stats you actually plan to use.
- Investing in Intelligence: Consider Wing of Astel for its magic projectiles on heavy attacks.
- Favoring Strength and multi-hit jumps: Compare Beastman’s Curved Sword, whose jumping attacks can land multiple hits.
- Building around Faith and fire: Magma Blade’s split physical/fire attack is more relevant than its physical number in isolation.
- Need a specific attack property: Mantis Blade adds reach on heavy attacks; Shamshir moves forward during light attacks; Nox Flowing Sword pressures guards.
- Want a paired DLC weapon: Falx has its own paired moveset, rather than the standard feel of two separately equipped curved swords.
Curved-sword mechanics and listed values come from community-maintained references and can change with game updates. The sources cited here do not establish a current patch version or provide controlled, build-by-build performance tests, so treat the ranking as a criteria-based guide rather than a measured damage tier list.
