There is no single, officially defined “god roll” for Episode: Heresy weapons: the right perk combination depends on whether you play PvE or PvP and what job you want the weapon to do. Just as importantly, Heresy-era farming advice is now historical. Bungie says Episode: Heresy quests, engrams, and other items were deprecated when Year 8 began on July 15, 2025, and that notice does not confirm where each weapon can be obtained today.
What “god roll” means for Heresy weapons
“God roll” is community shorthand, not an official Destiny 2 category. A useful roll is one whose perks work together for a particular activity and role: damage, add-clear, utility, or dueling. The best choice can also depend on how reliably a perk activates and whether it fits your subclass or build. Treat recommendations as options for a use case, not a universal five-perk answer.

Bungie announced Episode: Heresy for February 4, 2025. In its preview, Bungie said returning Season of Arrivals weapons would have an updated perk pool and could be enhanced; it also described new episode weapons and perks. The preview noted that some Heavy and Special weapons would gain anti-Champion capabilities, but it does not establish that any particular community-preferred roll is best. Can you still farm Episode: Heresy weapons?
Do not assume the original episode farm is still available. Bungie’s Year 8 deprecation notice says that, when Year 8 began on July 15, 2025, Episode: Heresy quests, missions, engrams, seasonal heirlooms, and artifacts were among the deprecated items. The notice does not provide a verified current replacement acquisition route for every individual weapon. Which weapons are included in a Heresy roll guide?
A February 20, 2025 guide by Aztecross covers eleven weapons from the Heretical Arsenal: Adamantite, Psychopomp, Eyes Unveiled, Watchful Eye, Abyssal Edge, Anamnesis, Afterlight, Refusal of the Call, Mirror Imago, and Division. The guide’s captured description and timestamps identify the weapons, but do not show its exact recommended perk combinations. How to judge a roll when comparing recommendations
- Start with the activity. Decide whether you need a PvE roll or a PvP roll; a perk that helps with sustained combat may not improve a duel.
- Name the weapon’s job. Choose whether you want damage, add-clear, utility, or dueling rather than chasing a list of perks without a purpose.
- Check the conditions. Consider how consistently a perk activates in the activity you play and whether its effect lasts long enough to matter.
- Look for synergy. Favor combinations that support one another and suit your subclass or build, rather than treating each column as an independent upgrade.
- Account for enhancement. Bungie said the returning Season of Arrivals weapons would be enhanceable. That is useful system context, but it does not by itself identify the best perks or establish a current acquisition route.
- Verify exact perk columns. If a recommendation does not identify a weapon’s actual perk options, do not fill in a recipe from memory. Confirm the roll against a current weapon record or in-game inspection before spending time on a farm.
What to do before pursuing a specific weapon
- Identify the weapon and the PvE or PvP activity you want it for.
- Choose the role and build you want the weapon to support, then compare perk combinations by synergy and activation reliability.
- Confirm the weapon’s current acquisition source in-game. The Year 8 deprecation notice does not verify an individual weapon’s post-episode route.
- Inspect the weapon’s available perks before committing to a roll; the contemporary guide’s listing of a weapon does not establish its exact recommended recipe.
