A weapon’s Strength-scaling letter alone does not establish that it will deal the most damage or suit your build. The clearest supported choices illustrate three different strengths: the Heavy Greatsword is flexible, the Ruins Greatsword rewards a substantial Strength investment but also requires Intelligence, and the Giant-Crusher trades high damage potential for heavy stat and equip-load demands.
This guide focuses on base-game PvE choices and explains how to compare Strength weapons without pretending that an unverified fifteen-place ranking is settled. The available figures are community-wiki calculations for specific stats and upgrade levels, not hands-on tests or a current-patch benchmark. Shadow of the Erdtree weapons are not included in the comparison.

Why this is not a definitive 15-weapon ranking
The evidence available for this topic supports a practical way to evaluate Strength weapons and three well-documented examples, but it does not establish fifteen consistently tested picks or a universal order. Filling out a ranked list would require comparable data for each candidate: the same character stats, upgrade level, handedness, affinity, and intended activity. That comparison is not established here.
Instead, use the examples below to identify which trade-offs matter. A high Strength scaling grade is only one input: base attack, total attack rating, weapon requirements, damage type, moveset, weight, stamina demand, and skill can all change which weapon is useful for a particular character.

How to compare Strength weapons
Start with your build and weapon requirements
Check the Strength and secondary-stat requirements before comparing damage. Two-handing a weapon raises effective Strength by 50%, which can help meet its Strength requirement and affects Strength scaling. It does not erase Dexterity, Intelligence, Faith, or Arcane requirements. A weapon with powerful Strength scaling may still be an awkward fit if it asks for levels in a stat your build does not use.
Compare attack rating under matching conditions
Attack rating depends on the weapon, its upgrade level and affinity, and the character’s attributes. A meaningful comparison therefore needs the same stated stats and upgrade conditions. The figures in this guide are source-reported calculations, not a claim that a weapon always hits for that amount in combat; enemy defenses, damage type, and the attack used affect damage dealt.

Heavy affinity is relevant to Strength-focused builds, and an infusible weapon can offer flexibility in affinity and Ash of War selection. That flexibility may be preferable to a unique weapon when the latter’s requirements or secondary scaling do not fit your character. A scaling letter by itself does not settle the comparison.
Account for how the weapon plays
- Weight and stamina: Large weapons can impose substantial equip-load and stamina costs. A damage figure is less useful if the weapon prevents the armor and equipment setup you want.
- Timing and reach: Slow attacks need openings. Reach, attack speed, and moveset affect whether you can land hits safely.
- Stance pressure: Stance damage can make a heavy weapon valuable, but its practical value depends on landing attacks against the target.
- Damage and skill: Consider physical damage type, any split damage, and whether the weapon’s special attack suits your build and preferred approach.
Three supported Strength-weapon examples
The table compares only the three weapons for which the available community-wiki pages provide specific data. Their attack ratings are not a controlled, like-for-like ranking: the Ruins Greatsword uses a different Intelligence requirement and its cited figure does not specify handedness, while the other figures are stated for two-handed use.

| Weapon | Requirements and comparison | Why consider it | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Greatsword (Colossal Sword) | A community-wiki comparison reports 884 attack rating two-handed at 80 Strength with Heavy +25. The same page describes it as the class’s highest physical attack at +0 and at maximum standard upgrade. | It accepts affinities, making it a flexible physical-Strength option. | The cited attack rating applies specifically to Heavy +25 and 80 Strength; it is not a universal damage result. |
| Ruins Greatsword (Colossal Sword) | Requires 50 Strength and 16 Intelligence. A community-wiki page reports 922 attack rating at 80 Strength and 18 Intelligence; handedness is not stated in the retrieved comparison. | The source describes it as the class’s only S Strength-scaling weapon and notes a gravity burst on its charged strong attack. | The Intelligence requirement makes it a hybrid-leaning choice, and its cited attack rating cannot be directly ranked against the two-handed figures in the other rows. |
| Giant-Crusher (Colossal Weapon) | Requires 60 Strength and weighs 26.5. A community-wiki page reports 965 attack rating two-handed at 80 Strength with Heavy +25; it also reports 895 at two-handed 60 Strength. | It is a high-Strength damage example, with a reported two-handed Heavy +25 figure at 80 Strength. | Its Strength requirement and weight make it a demanding choice for both stat allocation and equip load. |

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which of these fits your Strength build?
Choose the Greatsword for flexibility
The Greatsword is the most adaptable example here if you want a physical-Strength weapon that accepts affinities. Its reported 884 attack rating is tied to Heavy +25, 80 Strength, and two-handed use. The weapon is found in a carriage in Caelid; consult its item page for location details.

- ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition
Choose the Ruins Greatsword if Intelligence is already part of your build
The Ruins Greatsword’s reported scaling and gravity burst make it distinct, but its 16 Intelligence requirement is part of the cost. It is a less straightforward choice for a character investing only in Strength. The cited 922 attack rating assumes 80 Strength and 18 Intelligence, and the source does not state handedness for that figure.
Choose the Giant-Crusher if you can support its weight and requirements
The Giant-Crusher is the clearest example of a weapon demanding a major Strength and equip-load commitment: it requires 60 Strength and weighs 26.5. Its reported 965 attack rating is for two-handed Heavy +25 at 80 Strength. That number does not by itself show how it performs against a particular enemy or whether it fits your equipment setup.
What a trustworthy 15-weapon ranking would need
To rank fifteen weapons fairly, compare them at a shared upgrade level and attribute setup, and state whether each is one- or two-handed. Include requirements, weight, damage type, upgrade system, affinity and Ash of War flexibility, moveset, reach, stance pressure, skill, and acquisition point. Separate PvE and PvP conclusions where the intended use changes the recommendation. Without those consistent details, a numbered list risks disguising unlike comparisons as a precise ranking.
The EldenWiki guide index lists guides titled “Best Strength Weapons in Elden Ring” and “Weapon Scaling Explained: Affinities & Upgrades,” both dated May 18, 2026 in the index. Those titles reflect reader-facing guide topics; they do not verify a particular fifteen-weapon order or the calculations above.
