Find all six to unlock the Legendary Ashen Remains trophy or achievement. Their routes range from dungeon bosses to a chest in Elphael, and two depend on substantial story progress.
All six Legendary Ashen Remains and their locations
| Spirit Ash | Where to find it | What you need to do |
|---|---|---|
| Redmane Knight Ogha | War-Dead Catacombs, Caelid | Defeat Starscourge Radahn to access the catacombs, then defeat the Putrid Tree Spirit. |
| Ancient Dragon Knight Kristoff | Sainted Hero’s Grave, Altus Plateau | Complete the grave and defeat the Ancient Hero of Zamor. |
| Lhutel the Headless | Tombsward Catacombs, Weeping Peninsula | Defeat the dungeon’s boss. |
| Cleanrot Knight Finlay | Elphael | From the Prayer Room Site of Grace, head toward the balcony and small shrine. Enter the nearby room and open the chest. |
| Black Knife Tiche | Ringleader’s Evergaol, Moonlight Altar | Progress Ranni’s quest until you can reach Moonlight Altar, then defeat Alecto, Black Knife Ringleader. |
| Mimic Tear Ashes | Night’s Sacred Ground, Nokron | Use two Stonesword Keys to open the barrier, then open the chest beyond it. |
The routes are distinct: Ogha is a post-Radahn dungeon reward; Kristoff and Lhutel come from dungeon bosses; Finlay and Mimic Tear are chest finds; and Tiche is an Evergaol boss reward. For a route-dependent pickup, note that Radahn gates Ogha’s catacombs, Ranni’s quest gates Tiche’s area, and Mimic Tear requires two Stonesword Keys.
How to collect them efficiently
- Pick up Lhutel in the Weeping Peninsula. Clear Tombsward Catacombs and defeat its boss.
- Clear Sainted Hero’s Grave in Altus Plateau. Defeat the Ancient Hero of Zamor for Kristoff.
- Defeat Radahn, then return to Caelid. Enter War-Dead Catacombs northeast of the arena and beat the Putrid Tree Spirit for Ogha.
- Reach Nokron’s Night’s Sacred Ground. Bring two Stonesword Keys for the barrier protecting Mimic Tear Ashes.
- Progress Ranni’s quest to Moonlight Altar. Defeat Alecto in Ringleader’s Evergaol to obtain Tiche.
- Search Elphael for Finlay. From the Prayer Room Site of Grace, head toward the balcony and small shrine, then check the nearby room’s chest.
This order is a practical checklist, not a required sequence. The routes have different progression gates, so collect whichever is accessible in your current playthrough.
Summoning the ashes
Having an Ashen Remains item does not mean it can be summoned anywhere. A nearby rebirth monument must be active, and its icon must be visible on screen. You can summon only one spirit type at a time, and spirit summons are unavailable during multiplayer. See Bandai Namco’s starter guide for the basic summoning rules.

Legendary Ashen Remains are not Revered Spirit Ashes
The similarly named Revered Spirit Ash belongs to Shadow of the Erdtree, not the base-game collectible set. In the Realm of Shadow, it activates and increases the Revered Spirit Ash Blessing, which strengthens summoned spirits and the spectral steed. It is a separate progression system, not a seventh Legendary Ashen Remains.

The six items are grouped by their acquisition route and prerequisites here. Their locations alone do not establish a reliable universal ranking of combat strength or usefulness; that depends on the encounter and would require a separate, version-specific comparison.
