There are three known coffin transports in Elden Ring’s base game: one in Siofra Aqueduct that leads to Deeproot Depths, one in Deeproot Depths that leads to Ainsel River Main, and one in the Grand Cloister that carries you to the area before Astel. The routes below identify where to find each coffin and what you need to reach it.
All three coffin locations at a glance
| Starting area | Requirement or route | Destination | How it functions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Siofra Aqueduct | Defeat the Valiant Gargoyles | Deeproot Depths | Optional access route; Deeproot Depths also has a sewer-route entrance |
| Deeproot Depths | Reach the shallow-water area and search its southwestern shore | Ainsel River Main | Area-to-area transport |
| Grand Cloister | Follow the Lake of Rot route through the Grand Cloister and descend toward the Pests | The area immediately before Astel, Naturalborn of the Void | Route onward to Astel |
The route details are described in secondary walkthroughs and Eldenpedia pages: GamesRadar+’s Fia quest walkthrough, PC Gamer’s Ranni quest guide, Eldenpedia’s Deeproot Depths page and Eldenpedia’s Grand Cloister page.
Where is the Siofra Aqueduct coffin?
Reach the Valiant Gargoyles’ arena in Siofra Aqueduct and defeat them. The coffin in the arena then transports you to Deeproot Depths. GamesRadar+ describes this as one way to reach Deeproot Depths, not the only way.
Alternative: enter Deeproot Depths from the sewers
A separate route passes through the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds, using a hidden path near the Cathedral of the Forsaken. That is an alternate entrance to Deeproot Depths, not a different coffin or a destination of the Aqueduct coffin. GamesRadar+ describes both routes.

Where does the coffin in Deeproot Depths take you?
In Deeproot Depths, look along the southwestern shore of the shallow water for an abandoned coffin. Enter it to travel to Ainsel River Main. This location and destination are identified on Eldenpedia’s Deeproot Depths page.
How do you get from the Lake of Rot to Astel?
Follow the route through the Lake of Rot to the Grand Cloister. From there, descend toward the area with the Pests and find the coffin beside the waterfall. It transports you to the area immediately before Astel, Naturalborn of the Void; it does not take you directly into the boss fight. PC Gamer’s Ranni quest guide and Eldenpedia’s Grand Cloister page describe this route.

- ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition
Does this include every coffin in Elden Ring and Shadow of the Erdtree?
No. These are the three transport coffins supported by the cited route descriptions for the base game; this is not an inventory of decorative coffins or every coffin-like object. The sources do not establish a complete Shadow of the Erdtree inventory, so the DLC’s Stone Coffin Fissure should not be counted here as a confirmed transport coffin.
