The most flexible Wing of Astel build is Intelligence-led: meet the sword’s minimum requirements, then invest in Intelligence for Nebula and its strong upgraded scaling. Add Vigor, Mind, and Endurance to suit your survivability, FP use, and equipment. The right balance depends on your level and whether you prefer close-range skill bursts or FP-free ranged heavy attacks.
What stats should you use for Wing of Astel?
Meet the weapon’s requirements first: 7 Strength, 17 Dexterity, and 20 Intelligence. At base level, Wing of Astel has 65 physical and 78 magic attack power, weighs 2.5, and has E Strength, D Dexterity, and D Intelligence scaling. The cited weapon reference lists its maximum-upgrade scaling as E Strength, C Dexterity, and B Intelligence. Prioritize Intelligence after requirements
Intelligence is the natural next investment because Nebula’s magic damage scales with Intelligence and weapon upgrade level, and the weapon’s Intelligence scaling improves that damage. The skill’s scaling is described by Eldenpedia’s Nebula reference. Upgrade the weapon as you progress: Wing of Astel uses Somber Smithing Stones and can be upgraded to +10.
Keep the rest of the build flexible
- Vigor: raise it when you need more room to survive mistakes or stay in close enough to use Nebula.
- Mind: invest according to how often you want to spend FP on Nebula. Heavy-attack beams cost no FP.
- Endurance: adjust it for stamina and the armor or other equipment you want to carry.
- Dexterity: it contributes to the sword’s regular attacks, but the available references do not establish a universal breakpoint or level-specific allocation.
There is no substantiated level-by-level allocation here that applies to every character. Your level, need for survivability, FP budget, and preferred attacks should determine the balance.

How Wing of Astel’s attacks shape the build
Use Nebula for a focused burst
Nebula costs 20 FP and creates multiple magic explosions. Use it when an enemy is committed to an attack or otherwise gives you a safe opening; close positioning or confined space can help keep the explosions clustered. Its damage benefits from Intelligence and weapon upgrades, making it the build’s main FP-spending option.
Use standing heavy attacks to deal ranged damage without FP
A standing heavy attack sends one magic beam, while a charged standing heavy sends two. The beams do not cost FP and accompany the weapon’s normal attack. At close range, the melee strike and projectile can both hit the same enemy, so a well-timed heavy can connect with both parts.

This gives the weapon two distinct ways to use an opening: Nebula spends FP for its multi-explosion attack, while heavy attacks provide ranged pressure without an FP cost. Choose based on distance, timing, and how much FP you want to preserve.

What Wing of Astel cannot do
Wing of Astel has a fixed Nebula skill and affinity: the cited weapon reference says it cannot be given another Ash of War or have its affinity changed. Build around the weapon as it is rather than planning to infuse it or replace its skill.

The same reference reports a 20% damage bonus against gravity-affinity enemies and says the Spellblade’s Set boosts Nebula but not the heavy-attack beams. Those are reference claims, not independently confirmed comparisons, so they are best treated as supplementary rather than as the basis for the build.

It suits characters who want an Intelligence-led curved sword with both a skill that rewards FP investment and ranged heavy attacks that do not consume FP. It is less suited to someone seeking a weapon whose skill or affinity can be freely changed. Dexterity still contributes to regular weapon attacks, while Intelligence is the clearer focus for Nebula; survivability and FP sustain remain personal trade-offs rather than fixed targets.
