In Elden Ring, Hallowhorn Grounds refers to two sites in the Siofra River region: South, where eight pillars summon the Ancestor Spirit, and North, near the Ancestral Woods, where six braziers summon the Regal Ancestor Spirit. Their routes, flame counts, and rewards are different.
Where are the Hallowhorn Grounds?
The South grounds are in the southeast of lower Siofra River. Game8 directs players southeast from the Siofra River Bank Site of Grace; the 2024 OP START Gaming Guide, version 9.2 for Elden Ring v1.10+, also describes riding southeast from that Grace to the base of the staircase. The guide’s version label is route corroboration, not confirmation of the game’s current version. Game8’s Siofra River guide and the OP START guide describe the approach.
The North grounds are the counterpart in the upper Siofra River/Nokron area, associated with the Ancestral Woods. GameSpot’s Ancestor Spirit boss guide covers both encounters; the community Ancestral Woods page also identifies the northern site’s obelisks.

How do you activate the South grounds?
- Go to the Siofra River Bank Site of Grace and travel southeast toward the Hallowhorn Grounds staircase.
- Find and light all eight pillars in the surrounding area. The Ancestor Spirit encounter becomes available after all eight are lit.
- Return to the grounds and interact with the remains at the foot of the staircase to enter the boss encounter.
GameSpot warns that ghostly soldiers patrol nearby, especially archers, and recommends Fire or Holy damage. That is guide advice, not a claim of tested damage superiority. GameSpot’s encounter guide gives the warning and recommendation.
How do you activate the North grounds?
In the Ancestral Woods area, light all six braziers associated with Hallowhorn Grounds (North). Once they are lit, the Regal Ancestor Spirit can be summoned at the northern grounds. Do not use the South site’s eight-pillar count here: the two encounters use separate sets of flames.

Where is the Horn Bow?
GameSpot reports that the Horn Bow is on a corpse beneath the stairs leading to Hallowhorn Grounds (South). It is a separate pickup from the South boss’s Spirit Ashes reward. GameSpot’s guide describes the location.

The name is used for both the southern Ancestor Spirit site and the northern Regal Ancestor Spirit site. A separate result also uses the exact name for a Noctule track released with Extinguish Thy Flame on September 24, 2026; this guide is about the Elden Ring locations.
