A practical Prisoner-based starting point is 40 Vigor, 18 Endurance, 11 Strength, 14 Dexterity, 22 Mind and 55 Intelligence, with 6 Faith and 9 Arcane. It is a baseline, not a universal optimum: Moonveil, for example, needs more Dexterity and can justify a different allocation.
Level 100 spellblade stats: start with a weapon-led baseline
The build’s central trade-off is that level 100 does not leave enough points to maximize survivability, FP, weapon requirements and damage at once. One Prisoner-based level-100 progression recommends this spread:
| Attribute | Level 100 example | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Vigor | 40 | Survivability |
| Mind | 22 | FP for skills and sorceries |
| Endurance | 18 | Stamina and equipment capacity |
| Strength | 11 | Meet the selected weapon’s requirement where possible |
| Dexterity | 14 | Meet the selected weapon’s requirement where possible |
| Intelligence | 55 | Primary sorcery and weapon investment |
| Faith | 6 | Prisoner-based example |
| Arcane | 9 | Prisoner-based example |
This Prisoner-based example comes from Mobalytics’ level progression guide, accessed in 2026: Mobalytics Spellblade guide. Treat it as a starting allocation, not a prescription for every weapon. Do not add Strength or Dexterity by habit; first choose a weapon, satisfy its requirements, and then invest remaining points according to your priorities.
Choose the weapon route that fits your playstyle
These options differ in attribute pressure, moveset, skill and flexibility. Commit to one main route before investing in multiple weapon stats.
| Weapon direction | Requirements or suggested allocation | What it offers |
|---|---|---|
| Dark Moon Greatsword (STR/INT) | 16 Strength, 11 Dexterity, 38 Intelligence | A dedicated Intelligence weapon route; its Strength requirement competes with other level-100 priorities. |
| Moonveil (DEX/INT) | 12 Strength, 18 Dexterity, 23 Intelligence; level-100 example: 40 Vigor, 25 Mind, 25 Dexterity, 55 Intelligence | A fast katana and a weapon skill that provides ranged magic pressure. |
| Regular weapon with Magic affinity | Weapon-specific requirements; no single allocation applies | Emphasizes Intelligence scaling and magic damage, while letting you choose a moveset and Ash of War. |
| Regular weapon with Cold affinity | Weapon-specific requirements; no single allocation applies | Retains Intelligence scaling while adding frost buildup, according to Mobalytics. |
Dark Moon Greatsword: a Strength-minimum route
The Mobalytics guide lists requirements of 16 Strength, 11 Dexterity and 38 Intelligence. Those requirements make it a Strength-minimum approach rather than a reason to keep raising Strength automatically. At level 100, every extra point spent there is a point unavailable for Vigor, Mind, Endurance or Intelligence.
Moonveil: a faster DEX/INT alternative
Moonveil requires 12 Strength, 18 Dexterity and 23 Intelligence. The fan-made Elden Ring Wiki’s level-100 example uses 40 Vigor, 25 Mind, 25 Dexterity and 55 Intelligence, allocating more to Dexterity and Mind than the general Prisoner-based line. Its Transient Moonlight skill has a fast horizontal light follow-up and a slower, longer-range heavy wave; both cost FP and scale with Intelligence. Use the weapon’s requirements and the wiki’s allocation as a Moonveil-specific reference, not as an alternative set of values to combine indiscriminately with the general spread: Elden Ring Wiki: Moonveil.
Customizable regular weapon: choose your moveset
A regular weapon with Magic affinity can emphasize Intelligence scaling and magic damage; Cold affinity can preserve Intelligence scaling while adding frost buildup. Unlike a unique weapon with a fixed skill and affinity, a regular weapon gives you more control over its moveset and Ash of War. Mobalytics discusses affinity choices and other options, including Wing of Astel, Death’s Poker and Carian Sorcery Sword: Mobalytics Spellblade guide. Those alternatives have different requirements or skill emphases, so do not invest broadly in both Strength and Dexterity simply to carry them all.
Pair a staff with spells that cover your gaps
A staff gives the build ranged sorceries and additional ways to exploit openings; it also means the character is not limited to the weapon skill. Mobalytics recommends different staves for different casting priorities. These are guide recommendations, not an official ranking.
Rank #3
| Staff | Suggested use | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Carian Glintstone Staff | Builds focused on Carian Sword Sorceries | Specialized recommendation for that spell focus. |
| Academy Glintstone Staff | Flexible midgame casting | General-purpose choice in the guide. |
| Carian Regal Scepter | General casting at high Intelligence | Recommended for a high-Intelligence caster. |
| Lusat’s Glintstone Staff | When spell damage is the priority | Boosts spell damage but increases FP consumption, a meaningful cost at level 100. |
Close-range sorceries named in the Mobalytics guide include Carian Slicer, Carian Greatsword, Carian Piercer and Adula’s Moonblade. Choose spells to complement your weapon’s reach and the FP you can afford to spend. A character whose Mind is near the general example’s 22 should account for the FP cost of both weapon skills and casting rather than treating either as free.
How to play the build: switch tools with range and openings
A spellblade is a melee-and-sorcery hybrid, not a pure sorcerer with a sword equipped. Use the weapon for close engagements, the weapon skill when its range or timing is useful, and staff sorceries when distance or an opening favors casting. Moonveil illustrates the trade-off: its skill can project magic waves, but those attacks spend FP. A staff adds other ranged and close-range casting choices, at the cost of sharing the same limited FP pool.
- At close range: rely on the weapon’s ordinary moveset or a close-range sorcery suited to the opening.
- At a gap: use a weapon skill or ranged sorcery when the FP cost is worth it.
- When choosing equipment: weigh requirements and stat pressure against reach, moveset, FP use, casting emphasis and customization.
The sources support these as build choices, not a universal strongest setup or guaranteed results against a particular boss. The balance information available for specific skills is version-sensitive: official Patch 1.04 notes dated April 19, 2022 recorded adjustments to Carian Greatsword, Adula’s Moonblade and the Moonlight Greatsword skill, including cast-speed or recovery changes. Those historical notes do not establish exact current damage or balance. Check the in-game descriptions and current patch notes when precision matters: Bandai Namco Europe: Patch 1.04 notes.
