For a durable midgame Elden Ring sorcerer, balance Vigor, Mind and Intelligence rather than chasing one supposedly perfect level 50 stat spread. A useful early spell core pairs Glintstone Pebble for ranged damage, Carian Slicer for close combat and Rock Sling for physical damage and stance pressure. The sources support these priorities and spells, but not a tested, universal level 50 allocation.
How to allocate stats for a level 50 Intelligence build
Build around your starting class, current area and equipment. Keep enough Vigor to survive, enough Mind for the spells you actually cast, and raise Intelligence to meet spell requirements and improve your catalyst’s scaling. If you carry a melee weapon, meet its Strength and Dexterity requirements rather than investing in those stats without a purpose. Keep your equip load at normal or medium.

Bandai Namco’s broad build guidance is to aim for at least 40 Vigor on any character, then consider 60 after other stats meet their needs. That is a long-term recommendation, not a level 50 requirement; reaching it early may compete with your Mind and Intelligence goals. The guide gives 1,450 HP at 40 Vigor, 1,900 at 60, and 2,100 at 99. Bandai Namco’s advanced stats guide does not prescribe one level 50 sorcerer spread.
What Intelligence does—and what it does not do
A sorcery’s damage comes through its casting tool’s Sorcery Scaling, rather than from Intelligence independently scaling each spell after its requirements are met. Catalyst choice and scaling therefore matter alongside your Intelligence investment. Bandai Namco lists Intelligence spell-scaling softcaps at 60 and 80, and weapon-scaling softcaps at 20, 50 and 80; these are context-specific thresholds, not targets a level 50 character must reach.

- Collaborating with George R.R. Martin to create the ELDEN RING mythos has been a genuinely delightful experience and a source of wonderful inspiration. The team is working hard to ensure that the world of ELDEN RING will be a fascinating place for players to explore, filled with peril and wonder from its furthest reaches to its lowest depths. This is a FromSoftware title through and through, rich in fantasy and RPG action. We sincerely hope you look forward to it.
- Building the world of ELDEN RING with Miyazaki-san and his team was a treat! The graphics, mythos, and action-RPG gameplay will deliver an unforgettable experience. I can’t wait for people to see what ELDEN RING has in store for them.” Said George R.R. Martin.
Which early sorceries belong in the loadout?
These three spells cover different situations. Windows Central recommends them as an early-game core; treat the roles as practical guidance, not the result of controlled comparisons.
| Spell | Use | Requirements or cost |
|---|---|---|
| Glintstone Pebble | Efficient ranged damage for routine enemies. | Not stated by Windows Central. |
| Carian Slicer | Close-range melee sorcery when an enemy closes the distance. | Not stated by Windows Central. |
| Rock Sling | Physical damage and strong stance pressure; useful when magic damage is less attractive. | 18 Intelligence and 18 FP, according to Windows Central. |
Windows Central places Rock Sling in an underground chest at Street of Sages Ruins in Caelid. It recommends the nearby Meteorite Staff as a strong early-game staff alongside these sorceries. That recommendation is for an early setup, not proof that the staff is best at every later stage or for every stat allocation. See Windows Central’s early sorcery and staff guidance.

What about talismans and a melee weapon?
The available sources do not identify specific talismans for this build or compare talisman loadouts, so there is no evidence-backed talisman list to recommend here. Choose equipment around the needs of your own setup rather than treating an unsupported list as a level 50 standard. Likewise, an optional melee weapon should fit your preferred play style and require only stats you are willing to invest in; this evidence does not establish a best weapon or a tested spell-and-melee build.
Does patch 1.17 change the build?
Bandai Namco’s version 1.17 notes are dated August 27, 2026, and say the update is required for online play. For sorceries, the patch reduced casting time for Meteorite and Meteorite of Astel, and changed Gravitational Missile so its gravity projectile does not immediately explode on terrain such as the ground or a wall. It also changed Carian Sorcery Sword Intelligence scaling so that Intelligence increases attack power for all damage types. These changes do not establish a new level 50 build ranking. Read the official version 1.17 patch notes.
