The safest way to defeat the Weapon Bequeathed Harmonia Everdark Sovereign—usually called the Everdark Balancers—is to change your priorities between phases. Use blunt damage and stance pressure against the opening Balancers, exploit Bleed, Frost, or Sleep where practical, then favor Fire and selected Holy weapons against the blood forms and worm. Isolate targets instead of fighting the opening group together, and treat the worm’s blood bloom as a damage opportunity rather than an automatic wipe.
This is the Day 3 final boss of the Everdark Balancers expedition in the Forsaken Hollows DLC. The encounter adds a large worm phase to the ordinary Balancers fight. The phase and weakness details below are based on encounter testing reported for this Everdark version.

Best preparation for Everdark Balancers
Build for survival first. The fight combines group stun pressure, fast spear charges, bleed zones, reviving enemies, and a worm that can cover the arena with Blood Loss buildup.
Recommended Free Tools
- Prioritize Bleed resistance, HP, general damage negation, and stamina.
- Take stance-break bonuses if available.
- Ultimate-cooldown reduction and effects that provide a starting ultimate can be especially valuable.
- Bring one weapon that deals reliable blunt damage and a faster one-handed weapon that can apply a status effect.
Hammers and great hammers are particularly effective against the ordinary Balancers because of their blunt damage and stance pressure. A practical secondary option is a fast Frost weapon such as the Ice Rin Hatchet. The Balancers can also be affected by Sleep, Bleed, and Frost, although Sleep becomes harder to use consistently once the arena becomes chaotic.

Damage types by phase
| Phase | Most useful priorities | What to avoid assuming |
|---|---|---|
| Opening Balancers | Blunt damage, stance breaks, Bleed, Frost, Sleep; Holy is reported to be effective here, and non-Holy magic remains viable. | Do not assume one elemental type will remain best throughout the fight. |
| Blood Balancers | Fire and selected Holy sources can perform very well. | Their faster attacks make status setups harder to manage safely. |
| Worm | Fire-focused damage and attacks against the exposed pink nodes. | You do not have to kill the worm if the phase times out. |
One reported example is Marika’s Hammer, which performs much better against the grotesque blood forms than against the initial Balancers. The guide’s testing reported roughly double its usual damage in that phase; treat that figure as an observed result, not an official published stat.
Phase 1: separate and stagger the Balancers
The fight starts with several Balancers sharing the arena. Do not immediately commit the whole party to attacking the group as one pack. Their overlapping attacks can stun-lock a player before there is time to roll or disengage.
- Pull one Balancer away from the others.
- Have the party concentrate damage on that target.
- Use blunt attacks to build stance damage.
- Convert a stance break into a critical attack or a full damage sequence.
- Move to the next target rather than allowing the group to reform around you.
The goal is controlled target reduction, not maximum simultaneous damage. Separating the enemies gives your team clearer attack tells and reduces the chance that several spear attacks overlap.
Circle of Purification
When rings appear on the ground beneath a player, that player is being marked for Circle of Purification. Spears erupt from the marked area shortly afterward. Leave immediately—even if you are midway through an attack string. Continuing the combo for one more hit is rarely worth being trapped by the eruption.
Chaining Undertaker ultimates
Undertaker is a particularly strong choice for this encounter because the character brings high HP, stance damage, stamina restoration, attack enhancement, and temporary physical damage negation. A reported player-tested tactic is to use one Undertaker ultimate when the Balancers are in range, then wait approximately three seconds after the first stagger ends before using a second ultimate. This aims to chain stagger windows instead of overlapping them. The timing is a practical player tactic, not a developer-published timing guarantee.

The transition to the next phase occurs after enough Balancers have been defeated or their health has been reduced to approximately three-quarters. Avoid spending every resource simply to finish one target if the transition is already imminent.
Phase 2: handle the blood Balancers
Balancers killed during the opening portion return as faster, disfigured blood variants. This phase punishes backstepping and rewards quick target decisions.
React to the spear charge
A high-pitched shriek warns of the fast forward spear charge. Roll sideways or diagonally forward as the charge begins. Backward movement is less reliable because the attack closes distance quickly.
The chained spear slashes also track heavily against backsteps. Rolling behind the enemy as the first slash starts is safer and can place you beside or behind the Balancer for a counterattack.
Use the group-flinch effect
Killing or fully staggering one blood Balancer causes the others to flinch. Focus the party’s damage on one target to create a stagger chain, then immediately exploit the opening. This is more reliable than splitting damage evenly across every blood variant.

Plan around revives
A blood Balancer that revives returns with an attack buff. Do not repeatedly commit to the same enemy while it is unavailable. Instead:

- Switch to another target while the first one revives.
- Exploit the group flinch when possible.
- Repeat the rotation instead of waiting in front of the buffed reviving enemy.
Fire is particularly valuable here, and certain Holy weapons are reported to deal substantially increased damage to the blood forms. Status effects remain usable, but stance pressure and coordinated ultimates generally produce more consistent results in the crowded arena.
Phase 3: survive the worm and blood bloom
The Everdark encounter adds a large worm that tunnels through the arena and supports the Balancers with Bleed-heavy attacks. Keep enough room to see the ground and avoid standing in blood puddles or flower-bud hazards.
Ground dive and shockwave
When the worm dives into the ground, expect a spreading shockwave afterward. Stay at medium distance and roll as the shockwave reaches you. Rolling too early can leave you vulnerable when the wave actually arrives; standing directly beside the impact gives you less time to react.
Spear rain
During spear rain, the first impact temporarily marks an unsafe area. Back away from that initial impact, then move into the original space when the later volley shifts elsewhere. Treat the attack as moving danger rather than a single fixed strike zone.

Blood buds and puddles
Flower buds and blood puddles build Blood Loss. Their danger is greatest when another attack forces you to remain inside the buildup area. Move out of the zones even when the buildup bar is not yet full; a second hit or worm attack can finish the proc while you are trying to escape.
Destroy the pink weak-point nodes
During the large blood-bloom animation, the worm exposes several pink weak-point nodes. Attack these instead of simply waiting for the animation to end. Reported testing found that destroying approximately three or four nodes before the bloom completes can deal heavy damage and remove the worm before its full-room Bleed explosion. The exact count is an observed tactic rather than an officially published requirement.
Fire-focused builds are especially effective against the worm. The exposed pause before the full bloom is also the safest documented window to heal, revive an ally, or attack the nodes. If the team cannot destroy enough nodes, prioritize survival and wait out the sequence.
The worm phase can end by timeout; killing it is not mandatory. When the bloom ends through either timeout or weak-point damage, the battle returns to the blood Balancers.

Do not regroup in the center of the arena when the blood Balancers return. Spread melee players into separate lanes so the enemies divide their attention. This reduces the chance that one player attracts several spear chains at once.
Continue the burst-and-switch rotation: concentrate damage on one blood Balancer, capitalize on group flinches, and avoid standing in blood hazards. Save an ultimate for a dangerous revive cycle or a coordinated stagger rather than spending every ability during a low-risk interval.
Recommended party choices
Undertaker is the most direct fit for a stance-focused strategy. Wilder, Raider, and Guardian are also viable when the team includes a reliable stance-breaking build. The exact party is less important than covering the encounter’s requirements:
- At least one character able to apply sustained stance pressure.
- Enough mobility to escape Circle of Purification, spear charges, and worm shockwaves.
- A source of strong Fire damage or a weapon that performs well against the blood forms.
- Players willing to isolate targets rather than stack on the same enemy.
- Enough healing and defensive resources to survive the worm’s bleed-heavy portion.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Fighting every opening Balancer together: isolate one target to avoid overlapping attacks and stun-locks.
- Using one damage type for the whole encounter: blunt and status pressure are strong early, while Fire and selected Holy sources become more valuable later.
- Assuming the worm must die: the worm can time out.
- Ignoring the blood-bloom nodes: destroying roughly three or four can prevent the full-room Bleed explosion according to reported testing.
- Backstepping the blood variants: roll behind or through the first spear slash instead.
- Standing in puddles while attacking: Blood Loss buildup combines dangerously with the worm’s other attacks.
- Clustering after the worm: spread into lanes when the blood Balancers return.
Version check
Bandai Namco’s September 24, 2025 patch notes identify App Ver. 1.02.3 / Regulation Ver. 1.02.3 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. That patch did not list a direct Everdark Balancers balance change; it reduced the HP and attack power of Maris, Fathom of Night, in Deep of Night Augur expeditions and fixed several unrelated Everdark issues.
Check the version number in the lower-right corner of the Title Screen. The patch page instructs players whose Regulation version does not meet its stated requirement to select LOGIN and apply the latest regulation file. Because that instruction belongs to the September 2025 notice, it should not be treated as proof that 1.02.3 is the game’s final current version.
