When Libra stands still to build madness, interrupt it with an Ultimate Art if you can; if the attack continues, collect the small orange crystals scattered around the arena to reduce your buildup before the burst. Dodge out of rain and ground sigils promptly, then attack during recovery instead of committing to long animations.
Prepare for the standard Equilibrious Beast fight
Nightreign expeditions run across three days. The Night’s Tide shrinks the accessible area, and a night boss ends each day. Players begin at level 1 and prepare by defeating enemies, gathering runes and loot, and finding Sites of Grace. Bandai Namco notes that an expedition is defeated when all allies reach the near-death condition during a night encounter; preserving the party and its opportunities to revive is therefore part of the fight, not just an individual survival concern. Libra’s standard fight is shaped by madness buildup and delayed area attacks. As its health falls, attacks become more frequent or faster, according to GameSpot’s May 29, 2025 guide. Keep enough room to react, and treat a short attack window as a safer opportunity than a long combo.
How to respond to Libra’s attacks

Use damage and characters that fit the fight
GameSpot reports that madness weapons and spells deal extra damage to Libra. Its 2025 guide recommends Ironeye as a reliable option: bow upgrades can provide damage without relying as heavily on fortunate drops, and the character’s Ultimate Art can break Libra’s shell before it forms. That is guide advice, not a controlled comparison or a guarantee of the strongest current build.
- Ironeye: A ranged option with the guide’s recommended route to reliable damage and a potential charge interruption.
- Duchess: Extra evasion can help escape staff strikes and ground sigils.
- Recluse: Can contribute with a madness spell or incantation, though stronger magic depends on available drops.
- Raider or Wylder: Named by GameSpot as possible partners alongside Ironeye in suggested parties.
The guide’s sample parties include three Ironeyes; two Ironeyes with Raider, Duchess, or Wylder; and Ironeye with Recluse plus Wylder or Raider. Choose around your group’s available characters and ability to interrupt the charge rather than treating these examples as a definitive ranking. For close-range characters, prioritize brief punish windows after a dodge; ranged damage can reduce the need to stay beside Libra.
Decide whether to accept Libra’s bargain
Libra may offer a deal before the fight. Read the stated effect before accepting: GameSpot gives examples that can increase Libra’s damage resistance or allow it to revive after defeat. The guide author reports observing no negative effect from refusing or starting the fight before taking the deal, but that is an observation rather than a universal guarantee. Do not accept automatically when the tradeoff makes the encounter harder for your party.

How Everdark Libra changes the priorities
Everdark Libra is a separate, harder variant; its mechanics should not be assumed to apply to the standard encounter. PC Gamer’s August 14, 2025 guide describes a charged transition around 80% health, followed by temporary modifiers that can include three mirrored Nightfarer invaders. If the party does not defeat them, Libra can summon another three. The reported modifier pool also includes effects involving flask use and level loss, madness clouds or eyes, and a challenge that reduces everyone’s HP to half. The guide says its list may not be exhaustive, and these observations are patch-sensitive.

Preventing another group from appearing is a priority before returning focus to Libra.
- Keep attacks short. Fast attacks reduce the risk of being locked into a long animation while modifiers and additional enemies are active.
- Use available preparation. PC Gamer recommends madness weapons if found, considering holy or fire damage, and taking available Clarifying Boluses or other resistance items.

Do not confuse Libra with the Balancers expedition
Libra, Creature of Night, is the Equilibrious Beast expedition boss. The separate Balancers expedition is DLC content. Bandai Namco says unlocking Balancers requires defeating at least two main-game bosses, including Tricephalos, and making Scholar and Undertaker playable.
