The encounter is modifier-driven, so adapt to the condition shown on screen rather than relying on one fixed build.
How to unlock and access the fight
Bandai Namco says you must defeat the original Nightlord before facing its Everdark Sovereign version. The publisher described Sovereign fights as stronger, more challenging encounters with new moves and increased power. Equilibrious Beast is online-only, though you can play solo while connected to online mode. The publisher’s June 18, 2025 announcement said a new Sovereign would arrive each week; that notice does not establish Equilibrious Beast’s availability schedule in October 2026. What changes during the Equilibrious Beast fight
PC Gamer describes Libra’s encounter as modifier-focused. At roughly 80% health, Libra reportedly enters a meditation state and the fight escalates. One modifier can summon three condemned Nightfarer invaders that mirror your party; the guide reports that another group may appear if the first survives, potentially bringing the total to six. Treat the health threshold and repeat summon as observed behavior, not a guaranteed trigger. PC Gamer’s guide.
Libra’s other attacks are described as largely unchanged, so the main tactical shift is handling the active modifier and the extra enemies it creates. Read the on-screen modifier text when it appears; the correct response depends on that condition.

Fight plan
- Kill condemned Nightfarers promptly. When the invaders arrive, treat them as the immediate priority instead of committing to a long damage window on Libra. Their attacks add pressure, and the guide reports that another group may appear while the first remains alive. Once the party has room to act, return to Libra.
- Manage madness buildup. Pick up Libra’s small dropped orbs, which the guide says reduce madness buildup. Use Clarifying Boluses when you find them; resistance talismans or boss rewards may also help if available. These are expedition-dependent resources, not guaranteed drops.
- Take advantage of suitable damage and status effects. PC Gamer reports that Libra is weak to holy and fire damage, and that applying madness can trigger frenzy and reduce his casting. The guide also recommends frost or bleed to dispatch invaders quickly. These are reported tactics, not an official numeric weakness table.
- Use movement and range to limit exposure. Faster melee Nightfarers such as Executor or Duchess can make shorter attack commitments around Libra’s ground AoEs. Ironeye offers a ranged option that can avoid some close-range attacks. Neither is a universal best pick; choose based on the party, weapons, and active modifier.
Choosing a Nightfarer and loadout
There is no established guaranteed setup for this encounter. Choose around the tools your expedition actually offers:
- Mobility and commitment: Favor attacks you can end quickly when Libra uses a ground AoE or the condemned close in.
- Range and add control: Ranged safety can help against Libra’s close attacks, but you still need a way to handle the invaders efficiently.
- Damage and status access: Holy or fire weapons and madness application are useful options if they appear in your run; frost or bleed may help against condemned enemies.
- Status protection: Keep an eye out for Clarifying Boluses and resistance options rather than assuming a particular item will drop.
Patch changes and version caveats
Bandai Namco’s version 1.02.2 notes document several Equilibrious Beast changes: Law of Regression could dispel an effect granted to summoned condemned; defeated condemned dropped light with increased enhancement; the condemned Guardian’s attack power was reduced; and some condemned behaviors and targeting rules were adjusted. The same update fixed cases where Libra could move below ground and where False Blessing could lower player levels without the expected flask healing. Official version 1.02.2 notes.

Version 1.03.1 later fixed a bug that could cause enemy Raiders to spawn during this encounter when a Revenant in specific costumes was present. Official version 1.03.1 notes. These notes establish that the encounter changed after launch, but do not establish whether later updates changed the tactics described above. If a reported behavior does not match your game, check the installed version.
