If Elden Ring opens to a white screen and then closes on Steam, start by verifying the game files, then compare your PC with the published requirements. Bandai Namco documents one specific Easy Anti-Cheat launch issue tied to Steam account names containing multi-byte characters, but the white-screen symptom alone does not identify EAC—or any other single cause—as the culprit. These steps are for PC/Steam; console troubleshooting is different.
1. Verify Elden Ring’s Steam files
Steam recommends checking the installed files when a game crashes. Its verification process can take several minutes and may replace files that are damaged or missing.
- Restart your computer, then launch Steam.
- Open Library, right-click ELDEN RING, and choose Properties.
- Select Installed Files, then choose Verify integrity of game files.
- Wait for the check to finish, then try launching the game again.
Steam notes that one or more files may fail verification normally because local configuration files are not meant to be replaced. An isolated failed-to-verify configuration file does not, by itself, prove that the installation is broken. See Steam’s file-verification instructions.
2. Compare your PC with the published requirements
Check your Windows version, processor, RAM, graphics card and its memory, DirectX support, and available storage against Steam’s current listing. The requirements are a compatibility reference, not a guarantee that a system meeting the minimum will launch without a crash.

| Category | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | 64-bit Windows 10 | Windows 10/11 |
| Processor | Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 3 3300X | Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600X |
| Memory | 12 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| Graphics | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3 GB or AMD Radeon RX 580 4 GB | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 8 GB or AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 8 GB |
| DirectX | Version 12 | Version 12 |
| Storage | 60 GB available | 60 GB available |
These are the requirements on Steam’s ELDEN RING technical issue page. If a component is below minimum, that is relevant to diagnosis, but the white screen alone does not establish that your hardware is the cause.
3. Check the narrow Easy Anti-Cheat account-name case
Bandai Namco has documented an Easy Anti-Cheat launch failure in a specific situation: the Steam account name contains a multi-byte character, such as kanji. If that condition applies to your account, the notice may be relevant to the launch failure. It does not establish that EAC is responsible for every white-screen crash, and it does not provide a general remedy for cases outside that condition. Read the Bandai Namco performance notice for its scope.

4. Contact official support if the crash continues
If file verification and the requirements check do not resolve the problem, use the support entry point on the official ELDEN RING site. Describe the sequence precisely—for example, whether the Easy Anti-Cheat screen appears, when the white screen starts, and whether the game closes on its own. Include your PC’s relevant specifications and what happened during Steam’s verification so support can distinguish the symptom from the checks you have already completed.

Bandai Namco’s version 1.15 patch notes advise verifying game files for a PC “Inappropriate activity detected” message that can appear without cheating. That is a separate integrity-related message, not evidence that the same issue explains a white screen followed by a crash. The notice is specific to version 1.15 and should not be read as a statement of the game’s current version; see the version 1.15 notes.
