If ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN will not start on PC, Bandai Namco recommends verifying the game files in Steam; the publisher says this can sometimes resolve startup problems. For stuttering or frame-rate drops, its published workarounds include switching to borderless-window mode, lowering graphics quality and resolution, and updating graphics drivers. These are possible mitigations, not guaranteed fixes.
How to fix ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN not launching on PC
Bandai Namco’s May 29, 2025 version 1.01 patch notes say startup issues can sometimes be resolved by verifying the game files through Steam. To try that:
- Open Steam and go to Library.
- Right-click ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN and choose Properties.
- Select Installed Files.
- Choose Verify Integrity of Game Files and let Steam complete the check.
This checks the installed files; it is not a promise that every failure to launch will be fixed. If the game still will not start after verification, the official guidance cited here does not give a further general startup remedy.
What to try for stuttering and FPS drops
For stuttering, try borderless window
The official PC troubleshooting page published May 30, 2025 suggests changing the screen mode to Borderless Window when stuttering occurs. Find the screen-mode option in the game’s graphics settings. The suggestion is a potential workaround, not a guaranteed cure.

For severe frame-rate drops, reduce graphics load
Bandai Namco’s version 1.01 notes said some PC configurations using the latest graphics cards could experience frame-rate drops and that the cause was under investigation. The publisher suggested lowering graphics quality from High to Medium or Low, reducing screen resolution, and installing current graphics drivers. It did not identify a specific GPU brand or model, and it did not publish an FPS figure or estimate of how many players were affected.
- Lower the graphics preset from High to Medium or Low.
- Reduce the screen resolution if drops persist.
- Install the latest graphics driver available for your GPU.
These steps trade image quality or resolution for a possible improvement in performance. The official guidance does not guarantee that any one change will solve drops on a particular PC.

What the later patch did—and did not—fix
In version 1.02.1, dated December 8, 2025, Bandai Namco Europe listed a fix for a frame-rate bug that occurred under certain conditions in battles with the Everdark Sovereigns Caligo and Maris. That is a specific encounter-related fix, not confirmation that all PC performance problems were resolved.
Bandai Namco’s official pages list Hotfix 1.03.5 dated March 31, 2026, but the update listing does not say that it resolved the broader PC FPS issue described in version 1.01. The official information cited here therefore does not establish a comprehensive fix for every affected PC configuration.

If the game launches in English unexpectedly
The Japanese official troubleshooting page describes this separately from a failure to launch: if the game starts in English because of the PC environment, it suggests setting the game’s Steam language to Japanese. This is a language-setting step, not a fix for FPS drops or a game that will not start.
