Everdark Sovereigns are enhanced versions of Elden Ring Nightreign’s Nightlords, designed as tougher encounters with new moves and increased power. To challenge one, players had to defeat that Nightlord’s original form first and play online; victories earned Sovereign Sigils for special Relics and other items. The original event schedules are historical, so they do not confirm which Sovereign is available now.
What is an Everdark Sovereign?
An Everdark Sovereign is a powered-up version of a Nightlord encounter. Bandai Namco described the limited-time versions as “extremely challenging” and said they bring “new moves and increased power.” The publisher did not publish a numerical increase for a Sovereign’s health, damage, or difficulty, so there is no official percentage by which these fights are harder.

The first announced Sovereign was Gaping Jaw, the enhanced form of Adel, Baron of the Night. The mode changes the boss encounter rather than adding a separately purchased game or expansion.
How to unlock and enter a Sovereign fight
- Defeat the original Nightlord. The June 2025 announcement specified that players had to beat the standard version before taking on its Sovereign form.
- Play in online mode. Sovereign encounters were online-mode only. Bandai Namco said solo play remained possible while online, so online access did not mean a party was mandatory.
- Check the active event. The Sovereigns were announced as limited-time encounters. A past schedule does not establish that a particular boss is currently available.
What rewards do Sovereigns give?
Winning a Sovereign encounter earned Sovereign Sigils, with an additional amount for the first clear. Players could exchange the sigils for special Relics and other items. The announcement does not specify exact quantities or a complete item list.

Which Sovereigns were announced, and when?
Bandai Namco’s June 18, 2025 announcement outlined a weekly rollout beginning with Gaping Jaw, then Sentient Pest and Darkdrift Knight. Its July 11, 2025 follow-up announced returns for those three and named four more for a later rotation.

The first three were scheduled to return in pairings during July 10–31, 2025. These dates describe the announced 2025 rollout and return plan, not a current rotation. As of October 8, 2026, the official pages cited here do not establish which Sovereign is live; check the in-game event or a current official schedule before planning around a specific boss.

What happened with the early Sentient Pest bug?
Bandai Namco’s July 4, 2025 hotfix notice addressed a condition that could prevent the Sentient Pest Sovereign fight from progressing. Version 1.01.5 notes dated July 16, 2025 listed fixes for a fight getting stuck and for the boss appearing outside the arena. Those are dated fixes; they do not establish the state of the latest patch.

No separate update purchase is identified in Bandai Namco’s announcement: the Sovereign encounters are part of Nightreign. The official game page lists the game for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. Availability of a particular edition or store listing can vary by platform and region.
