Elden Ring Patch 1.12.3 was released on July 3, 2024, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. It made targeted balance changes to several weapons and Skills, fixed bugs affecting damage and status buildup, corrected boss behavior, and addressed several PC and PS5 performance problems.
Despite some outdated headlines, Patch 1.12.3 was not the update that rebalanced the final Shadow of the Erdtree boss or substantially changed Scadutree Blessing progression. Those changes arrived in later or earlier updates respectively.

What changed in Elden Ring Patch 1.12.3?
The update displays App Ver. 1.12.3 and Regulation Ver. 1.12.4. Online play requires the update. On consoles, the latest regulation files download after logging in to the game server. You can read the full official Patch 1.12.3 notes.

Balance changes
Swift Slash
The shearing vacuum effect from the Swift Slash Skill received reduced damage and a less severe damage animation. This adjustment applies to PvP only; it does not change Swift Slash in single-player or cooperative play.
Carian Sorcery Sword
The weapon received increased Intelligence scaling alongside a slight reduction to its base damage. The change shifts some of its damage potential toward Intelligence investment rather than its base values.
Smithscript throwing weapons
The throwing-attack range was extended for the Smithscript Dagger and Smithscript Cirque.
Thrusting Shields
A bug caused successful guarding while attacking with a Thrusting Shield to consume less stamina than intended. Patch 1.12.3 corrected that behavior, so players should no longer expect the earlier reduced stamina cost.
Weapon, Skill, and damage fixes
Rolling Sparks and Wall of Sparks
Patch 1.12.3 fixed two separate Rolling Sparks-related problems:
- Rolling Sparks could deal more damage than intended.
- Rolling Sparks and Wall of Sparks could deal no damage when certain special effects were active on the player.
Left-hand Skill effects
Special effects from a right-handed weapon could incorrectly apply to Skills cast with the left hand. The update fixed this interaction for Feeble Lord’s Frenzied Flame and Discus Hurl.
Backhand Blades
With certain Backhand Blades, rolling could fail to cancel recovery after a two-handed strong attack. The recovery-cancellation issue was fixed.

Perfume Bottles
The Lightning Perfume Bottle and Frenzied Flame Perfume Bottle could deal double damage in certain circumstances. Patch 1.12.3 corrected the issue.
Bloodfiend’s Arm
When an affinity was assigned, the Bloodfiend’s Arm could receive more Arcane scaling than intended. The update also reduced the status buildup on its heavy attack.
Gazing Finger
Faith scaling for the Gazing Finger was not being applied correctly. Patch 1.12.3 fixed the scaling calculation.
Fire Knight’s Greatsword
The update corrected the player-facing damage animation behavior and fixed incorrect attack affinities on some attacks.

Boss and summon fixes
Golden Hippopotamus
The Golden Hippopotamus’s unblockable bite could connect more easily than intended. Its hit detection was adjusted.
Its position in the rematch was also changed to match its position in the first fight.
Commander Gaius
Commander Gaius’s position in the rematch was changed to match his placement during the first encounter.

An issue involving Black Knife Tiche’s maximum-HP-reduction effect could allow enemies to heal when the effect expired. Patch 1.12.3 fixed that behavior.
NPC summons
The update fixed summoned NPCs behaving unexpectedly in certain circumstances.
PC and PS5 troubleshooting
Check ray tracing on PC
Ray tracing could become enabled unintentionally and cause unstable performance. Check the setting from either the title screen or the in-game menu:
System → Graphics Settings → Raytracing Quality
If you are experiencing poor or unstable performance and do not need ray tracing, check that it is disabled.
“Inappropriate activity detected” on PC
The message could appear even when the player had not cheated. Bandai Namco’s recommended fix is to verify the integrity of the game files before restarting the game. The official note does not specify a platform-menu path for file verification.

Unstable PC framerate from mouse utilities
Third-party applications that control mouse behavior could cause unstable framerate. Disabling those applications may improve performance.
Unstable PS5 framerate
For unstable framerate on PS5, Bandai Namco suggested using Rebuild Database from the console’s Safe Mode. This is a possible mitigation, not a guaranteed fix.
What Patch 1.12.3 did not change
Scadutree Blessing
The major Shadow of the Erdtree Scadutree Blessing rebalance was part of Calibration Update 1.12.2, released June 24, 2024—not Patch 1.12.3. Update 1.12.2 increased the first half of the blessing progression, made the second half more gradual, and slightly increased the final level.
If the title screen does not show Calibration Ver. 1.12.2, select LOGIN to apply the latest regulations from the multiplayer server. See the official 1.12.2 calibration notes.
Final Shadow of the Erdtree boss
The final DLC boss was not rebalanced in Patch 1.12.3. Its major balance changes arrived in Patch 1.14 on September 10, 2024. Those changes affected the opening action pattern, some attacks, damage, stamina damage, attack range, and attack-effect visibility. See the official Patch 1.14 notes.
DLC support and new menus
Support for Shadow of the Erdtree was added in Patch 1.12, released June 19, 2024. That update also introduced the Map Functions Menu, the Recent Items inventory tab, and the ability to mark newly obtained items with an exclamation mark.

Individual Summoning Pools can be enabled or disabled through Map Functions Menu in the Map Menu. Inventory display options are changed through the Display tab in the System Menu. The official Patch 1.12 notes explain those additions.
There is also a Mohgwyn Palace summoning edge case: with Include Distant Areas selected for the Small Golden Effigy, Mohgwyn Palace pools are excluded even when activated. While inside Mohgwyn Palace, selecting Nearby Only allows summoning within that area.
Is there a command for Patch 1.12.3?
No. Patch 1.12.3 contains no console command, launch command, cheat command, or other command syntax. On supported platforms, install the game update normally and log in to download the current regulation files.
