A practical level-150 example is 60 Vigor, 25 Endurance, 20 Mind, 50 Dexterity and 45 Arcane, with 12 Strength to meet the weapon’s requirements. Those are Mobalytics recommendations, not mandatory stats or a universal optimum. The weapon was nerfed in Patch 1.06; the Patch 1.17 announcement dated August 27, 2026, does not list a new adjustment to Rivers of Blood or Corpse Piler.
Is Rivers of Blood still good after the nerfs?
It remains a practical PvE choice for a character built around katana combat and Blood Loss, but it is not the untouched launch-era weapon some old guides describe. Bandai Namco’s August 9, 2022 Patch 1.06 notes say Corpse Piler’s damage and bleed buildup were decreased when its blood attack hits, while damage from blade hits was decreased only slightly. Read the Patch 1.06 notes.
Bandai Namco’s August 27, 2026 announcement for Patch 1.17 says the update supports Tarnished Pack and includes gameplay balance adjustments. Its listed weapon changes do not name Rivers of Blood or Corpse Piler, so that announcement does not report a new adjustment to this weapon or skill. It is not a complete guarantee about every intervening change or all live versions and platforms. Read the Patch 1.17 announcement.
The available sources do not establish current damage tables for every platform or provide firsthand comparative testing. Treat the build below as a practical set of targets, then adapt it to your progression and the enemies you face.

What stats should a level-150 Rivers of Blood build use?
Mobalytics’ guide, updated August 24, 2026, recommends a Dexterity/Arcane hybrid. It describes Arcane as contributing to both attack damage and Blood Loss buildup. Its level-150 example is:

These are recommendations from that guide, not an official required allocation. Its 45 Arcane target is a practical status-oriented stopping point for the example, not a hard cap: the guide notes that Arcane continues to add damage beyond it. When leveling toward this setup, prioritize survivability early, meet the weapon requirements, then invest in Arcane and Dexterity. Put later levels where your character needs them—such as more survivability or additional Dexterity—rather than treating level 150 as a fixed requirement.

How do you get Rivers of Blood?
Rivers of Blood is a late-game acquisition. The Mobalytics guide places Bloody Finger Okina near the Church of Repose in the Mountaintops of the Giants as the source of the weapon. For the earlier portion of the game, it recommends the Samurai starting class and the Uchigatana as a progression weapon. The base game and Shadow of the Erdtree are distinct content; check that a game listing includes the base game if you are buying access to Elden Ring. Bandai Namco’s official Elden Ring page.
How should you use Corpse Piler in PvE?
Corpse Piler can build Blood Loss quickly across its extended sequence, but the skill consumes FP and commits you to an animation. Bandai Namco’s combat guide explains that actions commit the character and that finding attack openings is central to combat. Read the combat guide.

- Use only the first portion when a boss opening is short or uncertain.
- Commit to the full sequence only when the enemy’s recovery gives you enough time to finish safely.
- Use the katana’s ordinary attacks when activating the skill would leave you exposed.
- Keep enough FP for the skill use you actually expect; do not assume the full sequence is free.
The key decision is not whether to use Corpse Piler at every opportunity, but whether the opening is long enough to justify its animation and FP cost. A missed or interrupted sequence can trade away a safe attack window for unnecessary risk.

Enemies resistant or immune to bleed blunt the build’s main status advantage. Rivers of Blood also deals split physical and fire damage, so fire resistance can reduce the value of its fire component. Against those matchups, do not assume repeated skill use will produce the same payoff: rely more on ordinary attacks, use a flexible backup, or change your approach to suit the enemy. The available guide supports these qualitative tradeoffs but does not establish a tested ranking against every alternative katana or bleed weapon.
