Count Ymir and Swordhand of Night Jolán’s quest in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree takes you from the Cathedral of Manus Metyr to three Finger Ruins, in order: Rhia, Dheo, and Miyr. The key to the second bell is the O Mother gesture; the third route opens beneath Ymir’s throne after you reload the cathedral. At the end, give Jolán either Iris of Grace for her Spirit Ash or Iris of Occultation for the Sword of Night—one choice per outcome.

Start at the Cathedral of Manus Metyr
The cathedral is in Scadu Altus, south of the Church District Highroad Site of Grace. To reach it, travel from Moorth Ruins through the underground passage to Bonny Village, then follow the road toward Church District Highroad and the cathedral. - Speak with Count Ymir and exhaust his dialogue. He gives you the Hole-Laden Necklace and the first Ruins Map.
- Speak with Jolán and exhaust her dialogue as well.
Ring the first bell at Finger Ruins of Rhia
Follow the southern coast route to the Finger Ruins of Rhia and interact with the bell. The reported reward is the Crimson Seed Talisman +1.

Return to the cathedral, speak with Ymir to receive the next map, and progress both Ymir’s and Jolán’s dialogue before setting out for the second ruin.
Reach Finger Ruins of Dheo for the second bell
The route to Dheo requires the O Mother gesture. Find it near Bonny Village, then use it at the statue by the Shadow Keep, Back Gate Site of Grace to open the way to the Hinterland.
- Get the O Mother gesture near Bonny Village.
- Travel to Shadow Keep, Back Gate.
- Use O Mother in front of the statue to reveal the route to the Hinterland.
- Continue to Finger Ruins of Dheo and ring the bell.
The bell’s reported reward is the Cerulean Seed Talisman +1. Return to Manus Metyr and exhaust Ymir’s and Jolán’s dialogue again. The route and reward are also covered by PowerPyx’s Ymir and Jolán quest walkthrough.
Open the passage beneath Ymir’s throne and ring the third bell
After advancing the dialogue, reload the cathedral. Interact with Ymir’s throne to reveal a ladder leading down to Finger Ruins of Miyr.

- Descend into Miyr and defeat the Swordhand of Night Anna invader. The reported drop is the Claws of Night.
- Continue through the ruins to the third bell and ring it.
- Defeat Metyr, Mother of Fingers, who appears after the bell. Her reported reward is the Remembrance of the Mother of Fingers.
Return to the cathedral and finish the encounters
Go back to the throne area in the cathedral. Defeat Jolán, then Count Ymir. Reload the area and find Jolán at her previous position to make the quest’s final reward choice.
ONE Esports also lists the Maternal Staff, Ymir’s Bell Bearing, and the High Priest set among the rewards from finishing Ymir’s encounter.

Give Jolán one of the two Iris items. The outcomes are mutually exclusive according to PowerPyx, so choose the reward you want rather than expecting to receive both:

Optional spell-shop timing
PowerPyx warns that Ymir’s spell shop can be missed around the final dialogue progression. If you want spells from him, buy them before advancing his final dialogue. PowerPyx also says the quest remains available after burning the sealing tree; that availability claim comes from its June 22, 2024 guide and is not independently confirmed here against official patch notes.
