How much does Shadow of the Erdtree cost?
FromSoftware announced the standalone downloadable expansion at ¥4,400 including tax in Japan. That is the Japanese list price stated in the 2024 announcement, not a current US price or a universal price. Store prices and availability can vary by region and platform; check the relevant official storefront for the price where you play.

The expansion follows Miquella into the Land of Shadow. FromSoftware describes fields and dungeons, mysteries and discoveries, threatening bosses, and new weapons, sorceries, skills, and armor; Bandai Namco characterized it as a new chapter in the original game’s story. You need the original Elden Ring to play the expansion, and you must progress the base game to a certain extent before you can start it. FromSoftware’s wording is that the original game “needs to be played to a certain extent” to begin the DLC. The publisher does not specify a particular level or a full step-by-step unlock requirement in that announcement.
Which platforms have the expansion?
FromSoftware listed the expansion for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Steam. Its Japanese announcement specifies Xbox Smart Delivery. The base game is required on the platform on which you play; check the store listing for your region before buying a code or add-on.
How do the editions differ?
The official pages distinguish the expansion itself from bundles that include the base game. The following prices and package details are historical figures from the Japanese 2024 announcement, not current prices or stock information.

These prices and lineups are from FromSoftware’s Japan announcement. The DLC-code Collector’s Edition was described as limited in quantity and did not include the base game, so buyers needed to confirm platform and region compatibility and whether the code remained valid. Current stock and code status are not established here. Bandai Namco’s edition page also lists the expansion, a base-game-plus-DLC edition, and a deluxe edition adding digital artbooks and soundtracks; check the live regional store listing for current offerings.

No. Bandai Namco announced that Elden Ring Tarnished Edition, bundling the original game and Shadow of the Erdtree, became available on Nintendo Switch 2 on August 28, 2026. The same announcement describes the Tarnished Pack as separate content: two starting classes, four armor sets, and three Torrent appearance options, available for purchase on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. How many copies did the expansion sell?
FromSoftware and Bandai Namco reported 5 million copies sold worldwide in the first three days after launch. Their June 27, 2024 notice says the figure includes downloadable sales and Steam downloads and specifies the bundled editions counted. It is an early sales milestone, not a current lifetime total.
